Topic: RNY question for those that had one!
I had a laproscopic RNY 4/5 and the incision by the belly button is not doing so well. I had such a terrible experience with the hospital where I had my surgery, I dread driving 3.5 hours back just to be stuck with them again. My GP made an appt for me with my surgeon who is out of town until tuesday. I am wanting to just call my insurance monday and see if I can transfer to someone here.. I trust the hospitals here.
Has anyone else has this issue? They had to cut it back open an inch to let it drain because of how infected it is. I'm back on antibiotics and am changing the gauze every hour I'm awake.

Topic: Went Shopping for Liquid Phase
It is 10 days until my surgery date and all I have to do is maintain my weight and do the liquid phase 1 day before surgery and then of course the 2 weeks after surgery. I went to Walmart and picked up some Atkins Protein Shakes, Sugar free jello, Popsicles, Chicken and Beef Broth and Flavored water. So, please tell me if these are the correct things for the liquid phase? I have my Bariatric Chewable Vitamins and Calcium Chews. I am having a Lapband.

So how is everyone's pre-op diets going?
Hope I do not give TMI, but thought it may be nice to be real here.
Today was my 10th day.
My pre-op was very up and down the first week. Sometimes, I felt great (I think bcs lack of crap food), then, other times I had headaches from the hunger and felt pretty bad. Probably detoxing from sugar/carbs! haha Then, I had the 'protein shakes make me want to gag' period. Then, I had the clean-out stage , if you know what I mean. OUCH! Noone warned me it would get that bad. Then, bcs of weight loss, I had a period - have not had a real one of those in a while. Now, I am doing good. Not hungry, getting creative with the protein shakes, my body is used to the less amount and I feeling pretty good.
I wished I knew how much I have lost, but do not have scale to weigh me...

Hey. Congrats on your surgery. Glad everything went well for you. I was banded yesterday. The gas is unbelievable. I dont think the surgery site hurts as much as the gas does. All i been doing is sipping and walking. Walking really does relieve the gas somewhat. I take gas x before i walk. Hope that help. Feel better soon
Topic: RE: Checking in
I find the smaller cup on the bullet does a good job for puree. The meat had it's own juice and was probably just a touch dryer than I would have liked it. Tonight I cooked skinless chicken thighs in some cream of chicken soup in the oven. Took one chicken thigh, which was about 2 ounce, and pureed it then mixed in some of the gravy from the pan to add moisture. 2 or tablespoons and I am finished but at least it is flavor.
