Thanks everyone for your support. I finally got comfortable and fell asleep around 3am in the recliner. Woke up at 8am and got back in bed and slept till 2pm!!!! OMG! I think the hydrocodone did that, it always makes me sleepy... Anyhow.. today is a better day. Going for a walk with my husband and son now... See ya!

Topic: RE: Surgery in 2 days... Feeling very nervous
I think your feelings are very normal, as someone else pointed out, we tend to think about our own mortality when we become parents.

My surgery is tomorrow and I will be just fine !  I am thinking positively and not letting anything come between me and this much needed procedure.  I am adding years to me life, rather than shortening my life.  My doctor ordered so many pre-op tests, that initially it irritated me.  However after having them all, I got validation that I am basically healthy, my heart can take the stress of surgery (this will be my first ever surgery), my blood pressure can handle it, etc.

Now dealing with my family is another thing.  My mother is is tears on the phone - she lives a state away.  My daughter is refusing to discuss the surgery, just said in an email "get some rest, see you tomorrow".. she lives 10 miles away from me.    Yes, we're from the same genetic line... my mother is the doom/gloom person and my daughter is the 'I'll ignore it and it'll go away person."

Not sure how I became the hit it head on and deal with it person, but that's me.

We will ALL be so much better on the other side of surgery !!

Hang in there... this emotional rollercoaster is worth it.  I just know it.

My surgery is tomorrow and I am so ready.  It feels like I've been working on this for years & years, not just months & months.  Feels pretty surreal right now.

I'll be looking for some room on the losers bench later this week !!

You're not obsessed, you are normal, I'm sorry to say !  I did the same thing, I was a research fool.  I read everything, looked at 1000's of before/after photos, read every book in the library.  My family told me I was like a reformed smoker and to change the subject once in a while.

I calmed down eventually... my surgery is tomorrow and I'm just glad the day is here.  Taking a few weeks off work is a very good thing for me.  I'm looking forward to the rest from work, but most of all, am looking forward to starting the rest of my healthy lifestyle !

Wow you guys are lucky !!  I have my surgery tomorrow also and have not had one bite of food since Easter Sunday.  My doctor is very strict - I bet my liver has shrunk up to the size of a raisin by now !

Try the Diet V8 Splash juice.  It's very low in sugar and has a nice taste.  It's definetely something different, I got tired of Crystal Lite, SF jello and popcycles.

I've also been doing protein 3 times a day, so that's definetely helped.  I've lost 20 pounds in 14 days, so getting on the scale every morning has been the rewarding part of the deal.

Of course, I know I'll gain 10 pounds in the hospital from fluids, but it's still nice to see a lower number on the scales !

I am having my RNY surgery tomorrow morning.  I am so ready to get over this hump.  I've been on my liquid diet for 2 days now and I'm not hungry so I think this is going to be easier than I was expecting.  Good Luck to you!!
