Topic: RE: Checking in - day 5 and doing well
I am really glad to read that you are doing so well. I am having my surgery April 27th, 2010. I am really kinda scared at this point.

Do you have children at home that you need to take care of? I know that the doctor said I could not lift over 15 pounds for 1 month after surgery.

Take care and I am glad that you are feeling so good.........

Topic: RE: Ear discomfort...anyone else?
Didn't the nurse give you some pain meds when you left, I think they were naproxen sodium or Aleve(generic) I found my box it says Naproxeno  that should be ok if they gave it to us. I never even took one after surgery.. That's about all I take for the last 10 yrs.
As far as the ear, I haven't had anything like that, I've had other small issues though. Could it be you laid on your ear and got it a bind or something? I've done that before and it hurt for a week after.  I am going through perimenopause and I have nodes/cysts come up all over all the time.  Doc says that's part of our curse, n weird stuff will happen all the time.  Right now I have one on my forearm, but, underarm, and they come and go behind my ear sometimes.(it does hurt if I ma****  But none since surgery.  So unless one grows giant or it bursts or gives extreme pain, I'd dismiss it for a while till your next Dr. visit. Only issues I've had is my stitches coming out especially around the drain hole. Then the tape broke me out terribly bad, it looks like I've got 8 holes instead of 5 LOL. The steri strip glue burnt me or something. And I have weird pains when food goes down, maybe that's how I tell if I'm shouldn't be eating that LOL. I stretch out my torso n that helps sometimes. Don't sleep good, keep dreaming of the stitches popping open, so I toss n turn all night making the stitch situation worse from pulling them. I can't win for losing. I lost 15 after surgery right  away but leveled off haven't lost anymore this is day 12, maybe I am rushing a bit.  Hope your ear is better, but I'd bet it was how you slept.  You must have left the day I arrived down there.  Wasn't so bad as people keep saying. I'm glad there is such a place or I would never been able to afforded this. What do you think of the MOMMY SPECIAL? I'd like to go back for that next year if my funds allow it. Bet that's really gonna hurt! Well good luck I hope your ear straightens its self out. Let me know your progress and pains every now and then so we can compare notes. Since our dates were so close we should be at the same stages.   Char.....

Topic: RE: Warning: Whining
I have had no one that expected me to tell them such things.  However, I was talking to my boss during a very boring district meeting and telling her I was considering it (many months ago) and a co-worker was with us.  And with a very judgemental tone the co-worker says, "Why would you even consider that?  Just do it on your own!".  At first I was quite offended, but instead of yelling or leaving (since I couldn't) I just said, "it's not as easy as you think.  It's like an addiction.  Only if you're addicted to crack you can just stop taking drugs.  You have to eat for the rest of your life so it's harder to stay away from the bad stuff".

I don't think she understood really.  I think she may still not.  However, just like someone that has never been an alcoholic or druggie can't understand why those people would let their lives turn into that, ours is a similar struggle that people don't always understand.  I chalk it up to ignorance more than being buttholes (though of course there could be an element to some of them, like perhaps the girl you described).  I guess though I just want to put that out there that people that have not experienced it really just don't understand.

Topic: RE: OUT of Hospital again!
Poor thing.  Surgery is no fun in the first place, but two in two weeks!   I have had gallstone before.  I lost lots of weight (and gained it back) many times on my own so mine was pulled out something like 7 years ago.  It does suck, but having that pain gone will be nice.

Rest up and feel better!

Topic: RE: anyone else freezing?
OMG Is that why I'm freezing to death all of a sudden!!??!?  Wowzers, I thought it was just because it's been colder here.  In the morning in Southern CA it is cold at 49 degrees, but normally I would just think my skin felt cold but it was no big deal.  Now I'm wearing my sweater and still shivering and my teeth are chattering!

I even have been turning on the heater at work and that is unheard of.  For the first time ever in my life, one of my students asked me to turn off the heater.  That has never happened.  Even worse, I said no! lol

Good to know where it's coming from at least.  Thanks!

Topic: RE: Family Dinners
My family is just my fiance and me.  We used to always eat together and now he always leaves and gets food out because he doesn't want to cook in front of me.  It makes me sad because I know he's eating unhealthy and because he's not spending that time with me.  When I can finally get on mushies though he says he'll stay and eat whatever I make so I just need to get through one and a half more weeks.

(My dr is keeping me on liquids for 4 weeks after my surgery, plus the 2.5 weeks I was on it before hand.  I gotta tell you I am sick of liquids.)

My doc said that I cannot take Motrin (ibuprofen) after my surgery - rny-. I would check before you take Motrin again with your doctor. It can really damage your stomach and we don't have much stomach left!
