I am 5 months out and my hair started falling out about 2 months ago.  I pull gobs of hair from my hair brush EVERYDAY!  When is it going to stop???? I am lucky that I had thick hair to start with but I've lost more than half my hair.  What can I take?  Is there anything I can do?  Will it stop falling out soon?? HELP!

About 2 months ago, my Dr told me, not everyone will lose their hair, but if it happens, "it will grow back". Then, mine started to fall out, went on for about a month (I have very thin hair to start with) It is NOW beginning to slow down.  He didn't mention anything I could take, but I hope it completely stops soon.

Like you said "gobs" of hair, but mine were in the drain.

What I have done differently in the past month because of this is, I buy Body Fortress Whey Protein Powder from Walmart.  It has 26 grams of protein per scoop. I use 2 scoops faithfully every day for breakfast = 52 grams.  Protein drinks tend to make me somewhat nauseas, I think because they are so thick, so I drink it slow. Also, I use it in ½cup water & ½cup 1% milk, for even more protein. Besides that, making it in plain water taste too sweet for me.

I don't know if this is why it is slowing down, but I won't stop now!

I have noticed in the past couple of weeks that I shed like a dog in July now too. I don't have thick hair to start with and it isn't coming out in clumps but I have to pick it off my clothes all day long, so it is coming out. I was told by a nutritionist that trace minerals like zinc are important in maintaining and slowing hair loss. So maybe check your labs to see how your zinc levels are. Not much help I know. Let me know if you get any really good information.

Mine has let up some, so I think an end is in sight. I hear usually 3-6 months.

I have very fine hair as well and at group I talked to my nutritionist and she said to start taking a hair, skin, and nails formula vitamin and silica besides the biotin I was already taking.. I started both and within 2 weeks the fall out started to slow and my hair is in much better condition.. not to mention that my nails are the strongest they have ever been and my sister keeps telling me that my skin is "glowing". Hope this helps!

What's the name of the hair, skin nail formula vitamin you are taking?

I use the GNC brand Hair, Skin, and Nails for Women vitamin. I will warn ya tho, they smell (and taste, for that matter) like fish so if you are sensitive to smells like my sister is, you may not be able to take them. I just picked up the Vitamin Shoppe brand to try and they don't smell much better (Vitamin Shoppe gives you a point for each dollar you spend. At the end of the year, you get a check based on the amount of points you earn, so I try and get most of my stuff from there).
Good luck!
