Eating Out??
Hello all you April 2010 RNYers.
Have any of you done any eating out, or eating on the run? As my summer progresses I have found myself without pre-planned food a couple of times, and have been forced to "eat out."
I never know where to go or what to get. So far I've done Wendy's small chili, and a beef burrito at Taco Bell without the tortilla (yeah, they'll just put it on a plate for you if you ask!)
Anybody got any better ideas other than packing a lunch everyday whether or not I PLAN to be out and about?
Janet

When I go to the restaurant I ask for the nutrition menu. This is almost a norm now days with so many people having spacial dietary needs. I've always been a modify queen meaning special orders is the way I always seem to order. At Denney's I've ordered an egg omelet with 1 egg instead of three with ham, onions, and green peepers, no hash-browns, no toast, and 1/4 cup cottage cheese on the side. I've also had their fish, yum. I also like going to Alfy's for the salad bar. At KFC I've had their original chicken wing and nothing else. I've had re-fried beans with a smidgebit of red sauce and a little bit of cheese.
Every restaurant seems to have something I can eat. The main thing is be specific on your order and don't be embarrassed.
For emergencies when I can't get to a restaurant if I'm out and about I'll have a Pure Protein bar.
Hope this helps

I eat out fairly often. Most restaurants will do smothered chicken w veggies. I had a fry joint make me zucchini instead of fries, asking works!! lol.
For fast food, I'm really loving McDonalds grilled chicken ranch snack wrap and just eat the ranch, cheese and chicken. You can get a bun less hamburger, you know about Taco bell, they also have a great chicken ranch taco salad, I just get no rice or tortilla strips, the meat is really really soft and easy on my tummy.
I eat pulled pork or turkey at bbq joints.
Lots of seafood at restaurants.

I just went out of town for a week, so I had to make an eating out choice for every meal.
Breakfast went for eggs and cheese and sometimes oatmeal.
Lunch and Dinner - salads with grilled chicken, turkey burger patty, turkey meat (out of a turkey sandwich), fajitas.
I also carry around with me a tuna salad pack and a protein bar so that I'm never without something to eat in case of emergency.

I've been on vacation since surgery and am on the go alot and have class for 4 hours one night a week. This is what I eat places
Applebee's - shrimp divavalo (just eat the shrimp off it), i've had their asiago peppercorn steak too
Panera bread- small grilled chicken salad
Taco Bell - plain taco, pintos and beans,
Wendy's- Chili

I had the same problem. Where to eat???? I got some ideas from your question but I did find a solution that suited me. I have a large soup thermos. I am able to put ice on the bottom and insert a yogurt or protein drink and top it off with more ice.
My problem with eating out when I am alone is eating one or two tablespoons and then asking for a carryout box. I don't want to explain my WLS to servers. I have thought about ordering carry out from Applebee's. I can eat 1 or 2 wedges of Chicken Quesadillas. I put some restaurant phone numbers on my cell. I looked at restaurant menu's online and keep a list in my wallet of what I like.
I am not able to eat beef or even beef substitutes. I get as sick on a meatball as I do with a boca burger but I can eat chicken and can't get enough of it.
