How is your energy level?

During the pre-op diet phase my energy shot through the roof. I had so much energy I didn't know what to do with my self. I even felt like sprinting............me springing that was a new concept. Since surgery (4/15/10) I feel drained.

Are you getting enough protein?

On the days that I don't manage to get in more the 50g's I feel it the next day - HORRIBLY

My problem is that I can't find enough food that's protein rich (that I haven't eaten so much I'm sick of it) and I have a hard time drinking calories.... I get so few as it is!

Good luck & when you turn that corner, let us know!

Thank you for the advice.

I've been averaging around 60 - 70 grams of protein a day. My Dr. said he wants me to limit protein drinks and get the protein from regular food. He also said I need to eat more calories. :-(. This is  easier said then done. I've requested an appointment with the nutritionist.

My energy level is ZERO.  And I would imagine it's from not getting in enough protein.  I am having an awful time getting myself straightened around here.  I can't find a shake I can tolerate.  Can't eat much.  I don't know what to do with myself.  sigh.

Sorry to hear we are in the same boat when it comes to energy. Have you tried the 30 gram protein drinks from Costco. So far they are the only ones that taste good to me.

My energy level was awful until mid last week.  I am getting between 80-100 g of protein, I think it's' just the after effects of anesthesia and surgery...

I'm starting to come out of the energy drain now...but it was ridiculous how tired for the last 6-7 weeks.  I think we just have to be patient and listen to our bodies and give them rest when they really need it to repair from surgery.

You give me hope. Your surgery was 11 days after mine. I'm hoping my energy drain will be over within a couple days. I'm upping the protein. :-)

I'm 7 weeks out and have also been incredibly tired.  I keep looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.  It's good to know I"m not alone.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Today I went to the gym for aqua aerobics, it wiped me out. I'm soooo tired I took a two hour nap.

Have you ladies started getting your b-12 shot yet?  I felt exactly as you describe so drained, I needed a nap every day. I got my b-12 and immediately started to feel better.  I understand protein is important and I do the best I can with that but i feel the b-12 really really helped!
