DUMPING...

Catalina Dressing...

Made a taco salad, sans lettuce (not allowed lettuce till end of July by my surgeon lol)...with catalina dressing... ate it a couple times last wk, I was fine. I think I must have put a little too much tonight...immediately after the last bite, stomach ache...

then it began...

intense cramping...sweating...shaking...and finally it ALL came flooding out (tmi lol)... I was literally praying out loud for God to make it stop bcuz I felt so horrible... My son was asking me for something to drink and I am in the bathroom almost in tears saying "Mommy is sick, just a minute" and it went on for about 10 mins....

Feeling a little better now but oh em gee....DUMPING is the worst. This is only the second time I've dumped and it's definitely not something I want to happen again, ever. I REALLY have to watch the sugar in everything, I can tolerate VERY VERY little. Natural sugars, like in fresh fruit, are not a problem at all... but any of the -oses...sucralose, lactose, fructose... NO BUENO. I can tell you that i won't be eating catalina dressing for a long long long time...

Oh nooo...that sounds horrible!!!!  I haven't had any issues like that yet.  I have a couple of "stuck" stype things and I had to relieve myself by bringing it up.  Not much fun, but not as bad as what you describe.

I am dying for some salad - WITH lettuce and the works!!!!!  I really think I could handle it now - but guess I will be a good girl and wait.

I got cleared for salad at week seven.  I had some the other day.  I had one cup.  I cut it up real good before eating, had two tablespoons of Marie's Yogurt Dressing (Blue Cheese) and no problems for me!  Now, granted all I had was the bagged salad and dressing...no croutons, eggs, bacon bits, garbanzos, cucumbers.....all my favorites from my old salad days.  LOL

That sounds horrible!!!! I'm glad your are feeling better. I haven't had any episodes of dumping other than once I did eat something that I didn't expect to have alot of sugar in it and it had ALOT after I looked up the nutrition info online after I ingested it I got really sleepy and nauseated that was about it (but I was sleepy anyways from being at a water park all day so hard telling) Had nothing stuck and actually I need to be careful because I can swollow too much food at once without any reprocussions and drink huge drinks at times (although I try not to I find myself doing it from time to time)

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have been on the floor in the bathroom praying for mercy. Dumping is the worst sick feeling I have ever had. Once I dumped and kept bringing up foam.

My pouch is very picky and sensitive. Shakes are the way I get most of my protein in.  I had 1/2 of a boca burger today and I had one of what I call a naked nap. When I dump or get the stuck feeling I get very flushed and hot. I go to bed and before you know it Ihave taken all my clothes off. I absolutely can not stand any clothes with waist bands when I am sick . Even the slightest pressure sucks.

I am the same way with sugar. It takes forever to shop. If a food has almost no sugar it is loaded in fat and if a food is low in fat then it is loaded with sugar. If something has too much sugar I have instant diarrhea for hours.

Today is not a good pouch day. I can't seem to not be sick more than 4 days a week.

Crazy Thing0  I have been eating lettuce (especially spring mix) in salads and it has gone very well.  I chew well also.  Nuts (walnuts, almonds and pecans) have been exceptionally easier than I thought.  Again, chew well.  I am so nervous about bread, i have avoided it 100%.  I made the mistake of eating a few slices of deli ham the other evening, I was not able to hold it down regardless of how I chewed it.

Tomato salad with balsamic has been super.  I have not had a tortilla or tortilla chip since surgery either.  I am too nervous still about that.   Eggplant parmesan has been good also.  Small bites has been very tolerable.

I too, am unable to eat any sugar.  Only natural fruit.    :)  Good luck to all!

Actually, I'm having my 3rd dumping episode today, and it serves me right! I thought since I'm doing so well, I'd cheat. Never again!!!!!

( Iced Mocha Latte, although I thought using skim milk might help take the bad away.) This was so stupid!( Mocha & Caffeine & a straw, too). It hit me just as I was leaving work after the overnight shift
and it was the worst I've had. I thought I saw someone here said that around 4 - 5 months, which I am, dumping could happen even if you hadn't had any problems so far.

So back to the business of being good. I have lost 63 pounds and 2-3 sizes so far, and I weigh less than I have weighed in 35 years.

So, if anyone wants to consider not following the rules, believe me, the consequence is really awful!
