I'm starting to get tired of the same things. I stay away from carbs/starchy foods. I love me some seafood. Right now my fav is crab meat with mayo and cheese heated in the microwave.

i wish i had a favorite food.  nothing sounds good and i rarely have the same thing more than 1 day in a row.  i have found that toast helps to sooth my stomach as do lf wheat thins.  eggs always sounds like a good idea but dont sit well.  hoping for better outcomes soon!  but I enjoy reading your posts so i can dream about food!

i have heard that beef jerky is a common treat after surgery with high protein but i am afraid to try it this soon out.  maybe i should try some!

I love mexican food so here's my favorite right now, it keeps shifting:

Got this recipe from:  bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/p/other-recipes-of-mine.html

Nikki’s Taco Casserole

Ingredients:
1 lb. of lean ground turkey (lean ground beef works too)
1 small zucchini, chopped
1 small yellow squash, chopped
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 can of tomatoes and chiles (I use Ro-Tel)
1 can fat free refried beans
1 to 1 ½ cups Mexican Blend Cheese (I usually use 2%)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt, pepper, and other desired seasonings (I usually put a dash of Adobo brand seasoning in mine)
1 packet of taco seasoning
Sour cream (or greek yogurt) and salsa for topping

Directions:

  1. Brown ground turkey, drain, set aside in a bowl
  2. Sautee veggies in EVOO and garli****il tender, combine with ground turkey
  3. Add taco seasoning and mix well
  4. Add tomatoes and chiles to turkey/veggie mixture and stir well
  5. Pour that mixture into a small casserole dish
  6. Spread a layer of fat free refried beans on top of the meat mixture
  7. Spread a layer of cheese on top of the beans
  8. Bake in a 350 oven for 30 minutes
  9. Allow to cool on a rack at least 15 minutes before serving or slices will not hold together (or eat piping hot if you don’t care!)
  10. Top with salsa, sour cream/greek yogurt

I still desire crunchy foods so I was making homemade cheese crisps for a while. Very simple to make and crunchy if ya can master the method! Lately, tho, I have found a new fav in soy crispers and turkey bacon! I do the bacon in the micro for about 2 mins and it comes out super crispy. Oh, and seafood! Tilapia baked in the oven with a little bit of lemon juice, minced garlic and Sazon. Shrimp sauteed with finely diced onions and garlic. I've been avoiding carbs as much as possible.. the soy crispers are a little higher in carbs, but it's all fiber so I don't mind it as much. Plus they have a decent protein rating.
