PRE-OP HEADACHES!!! ARRGHHH!
Ok everyone... I am having my RNY on Tues 4/13! WOOT WOOT!
BUT in the meantime, I am having headaches EVERY FRIGGIN DAY! What do you suppose this is all about? I notice the only thing I have done different is not force myself to have 2 protein drinks/shakes everyday...I know that when I did have the 2, I didnt have the headaches. SOOOO I have come to the conclusion I am not getting enough protein. My doc has me on a 2wk pre-op diet (lost 11 lbs already) which is basically eating very little BUT better than the all liquid diet I've seen people post about (I'd die! Seriously!)... This is what my surgeon suggests
Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 oz fruit
Mid-Am: Protein shake/drink
Lunch: 1 1/2 oz lean protein, 2 oz veggies
Mid-Afternoon: Protein shake/drink
Dinner: 1 1/2 oz lean protein, 2 oz veggies, 2 oz fruit
I've been slacking the last couple days on the protein shakes and eating an ounce more veggies and meat. What do you guys think???? I'm eager for surgery day to get here and get it over with! I want to start my new HEALTHY life

I had the same for 2 days, then added 3 protein drinks a day into my routine and the headaches went away.
The two proteins that I love are Oh Yeah Banana in ready to drink... kinda spendy, but very convenient, easy to grab, shake and drink in the car, at work, etc.
The other is a mixture that the VitaLady showed me. It's 1 scoop of IDS Whey Chocolate protein, 1 scoop of IDS Whey Vanilla / Cinnamon protein. Mix them together in a little blender with about 3 ozs of water. Then I pour it into a large coffee mug, add the rest with ho****er. You get a hot chocolate type drink with a vanilla / cinnamon taste and it is wonderful.
I had given up caffeine about a month ago, so I was already through the caffeine headache, but I do agree, that could be the cause also. My caffein headache lasted for 4 full days and it was miserable.
Best of luck !!

If you didn't give up sodas or coffee, its called the "atkin's flu". Its from carb withdrawal. It lasts anywhere from 2-14 days. Mine lasted about six days and it was miserable. I knew you weren't suppose to have aspirin so I was afraid to take any otc meds. Just keep focused on your goal, YOU CAN DO IT!
