I attended an orienation last Thursday and had a surgery date before I left the clinic.  Things are moving too fast now after all the waiting to get approved.

My family came over today and help me clean out the pantry, refridgerator, and both freezers.

I only have 10 more days to go.  I start my liquid diet on Wednesday.

What are you doing to prepare for your surgery?

The pre op diet, I NEED to start working out to get the lungs ready, got my comfortable clothes out to wear for the first couple weeks, still learning about my requirements, ordered and got vitamins following vitalady's schedule. I can't think of anything else. Emily

Congrats on the quick date!  That's amazing!

I am in the middle of my preop diet right now.  9 more days to go.

I have to go to the $ store to pick up a few things for each of my kids to keep them occupied while I'm in surgery.  New toys should keep them from tearing the place apart for an hour or so.

I still need to order some chewable calcium.  That's the only thing I can't find in stores around here.

I *think* I have everything I will need after surgery, but I need to check my list.  I know I need to get some gauze pads from my mom (she used to be a home health nurse -- when she left, she still had a couple of small totes full of stuff (nothing could go back into storage once it was out of the inventory room so no, she didn't steal it. LOL).

Besides that, I think I'm ready to go.

Thanks for the replies.  I've made a "to do list".  I hope there's enough time to get it done.

Tuesday I have my pre-hospital admission tests.  I'm going to stop by the bariatric clinic and buy some more of the vitamins I need.  I've ordered from Unjury so I'll have enough protein powder to see me through several weeks.

Nothing will taste the same to you until a couple weeks after surgery.  It has something to do with the intubation tube.  I've had surgery before and it takes awhile for your taste buds to get back to normal.

I'm going grocery shopping today to get liquids for the full liquid diet I start on Wednesday.  I'm on an all protein diet until then.  I've already got the carb withdrawal headache, hope it goes away soon.

I'm having RNY.

Good luck to both of you, too.

I did the same thing but started about a month ago. I am a sugar/carb addict and I needed more time to over come this. As it is I cheated a lot the first 2 weeks and still get cravings. My pantry and fridge and everything I need has been purchased by now.

So after your approval you got a date right away. I had to wait 4 weeks to get a date and then another 6 1/2 weeks of waiting and I stll have 2 weeks.

I can only go to Center of Excellence hospitals.  I started at one in downtown Detroit only attending the seminar, all 6 hours of it.  Then I went to one of the West side of Detroit.  There I did see the surgeon but that was it.  He told me what extra tests I would need done. Then I fought with my primary care physician who would not recommend the surgery.  I changed doctors.  Good choice too.  His sister had had the surgery and he thought it was a great  idea.
Found out I have Kidney issues.  Had to see a specialist who also thought it was a good idea.
So most of all of my ducks were in a row when I went to the seminar last Thursday.

I'm now back at the original hospital that I wanted.  They finally got their Center of Excellence clearance.  So on the 25th, I saw the nurse, exercise specialist, psychiatrist, and the surgeon.  After his consultation, he offered me the April 7th surgery day.  I was completely taken by surprise.  I didn't think anyone would get a surgery date that fast.

I have lots of lists and not too many days left - 9 days.

I start my 2 week liquid diet next Tuesday (7 days from now).  House is pretty well cleaned out - empty according to my husband.  I am buying my liquid vitamins yesterday and today.  I did find chewable calcium on bariatricAdvantage.com

I'm making a list of what liquids I can have and will pick them up this week.  I guess Easter dinner will be last big dinner !!  As much as I want to have this surgery and as excited as I am, that last statement made me kind of sad.  I'll have to deal with my relationship with food for the rest of my life.

Good luck to everyone !!

I too am having my surgery on the 7th! I am so happy to have found this site. I don't really have a support system here so it's nice to talk to other people that knows how it is!!!

I am hoping to be successful amongst my family's poor eating habits but I have the best motivator in the world...my 4 month old son!!! I am doing this for him!

My doctor didn't require me to start a liver shrinking or liquid diet but I am trying to eat a healthy diet and exercise as much as I can up until the surgery date.
