What Kind of Pre-op Diet Will You Be On?
Cindy,
That is the same as the previous post above. Can you help the person? It's going to cost her $300.00 and I thought maybe Ensure would help but you probably know more than I do.
The colon cleanse is no fun at all. Stay home and near the bathroom. If you are drinking one of those pre-cleanse drinks you will be running (no pun intended) to the bathroom every few minutes.
End the end you will be pooping water. When I had to do it before I made everyone here use the upstairs toilet. And it's a good thing to be on a water diet in the hospital because all of that pooping makes your bottom pretty sore. Buy the softest toilet tissue you can find.
I am glad to see you here.

Hello Diana & Emily
Thanks a lot for your advice and help. This is all so new and different for me ... like everyone said is a life changing experience. Unfortunately the doctors only tell you one side of the story, I am so happy that I discover this web site ... I look and look the before and after pictures, read as much as I can the forums and everyday I'm positive and ready for this.
I call the doctors office, they kind of insist on me spending the $300 for the Optifast diet at their facilities. I found this other place on-line "http://www.newlifestylediet.com/default.aspx " .... the 2 weeks Optifast diet for only $150 + s&h savings of more than $100. Is amazing how doctors can operate (I guess they need to make a living too) but no at my expenses and necessities.
Anyway I hope my experience help someone else .....in the meantime I will keep preparing myself and like Diana told me for the close relationship that I'm going to have with my bathroom.
Thanks a bunch and keep the good work and enthusiasm
One more question .... any favorite flavors on the Optifast products??

2 week liquid diet starting next Tuesday. I'm sensing a lot of Jello in my future.
Days 1-7 consist of 6-7 protein drinks a day. The number depends on how many cals are in each serving. I can also have one of the following:
1/2 cup cooked cereal (oatmeal, cream of wheat, etc.)
6oz no sugar added yogurt
1 cup strained cream soup
1/2 cup SF pudding made with skim milk
The rest of the time, it's one protein shake/day and 2 Impact Advanced Recovery drinks/day.
During the duration, I can have all the SF, low cal (under 5/serving) drinks I want along with low sodium broth, SF popsicles, Jello, etc. I want.

Hi there!
My name is Dana and I'm living in KS, my surgery date is April 28th! I have to be on a clear liquid diet with protein supplement 2 weeks prior. Then the day before surgery a bowel prep with only clear liquids that day. I'm getting a little nervous and excited altogether! :0)

Well, I didn't get any chance to do any pre-op Diet. The Dr's office informed me about the surgery date 5 days before. also I was fasting for Lent. when I saw the surgeon he told me try not to gain more weight. he didn't say I have to lose weight. and now it's easter and i can't resist not to eat meat after a month of fasting.
