Congratulations! I am really excited for you. I don't know the best way to lose it before surgery. I just got lucky and started losing but I do know that whenever I kept a food diary that really helped. If I didn't want to claim responsibility for eating it, I didn't eat it. It seemed to be the only thing that really helped. Oh and you might want to start weighing out your portions now. It's something you'll need to learn to do anyway. Hope this helps.
Congrats again,
Lisa

Congrads!! I'm the week before you, the 13th.
I've been tracking my foods and exercising online. I do it as I'm eating or immediately afterwards. I want to hold myself accountable and just writing it on a piece of paper isn't enough for me. When I was writing it that way, I never really put portion sizes or counted calories. Probably why I GAINED 15lbs in the year since I started this process!
I also have 2 protein shakes a day, normally breakfast and lunch.
I try for 1000-1200 calories a day.

Thank you and Best Wishes!
I did sign up on www.thedailyplate.com and have been entering food. They computed I need 2000 calories to lose 2 lbs a week. I thought that was high. I am defiantly going to lower that. I do need to get my butt in gear and exercise! I am looking at buying a treadmill so there are NO EXCUSES! I also have ordered protein samples to see what I like. I just had About Time cake-batter flavor....it was YUMMY!

Hi! My surgery date is April 20/10 as well! My husband had RNY on December 16/09 so my eating has changed significantly since then. I've really cut out the "crap" (junkfood, white carbs, pop, etc.) and I've just started drinking a meal replacement shake for breakfast. My surgeon isn't requiring me to lose weight before surgery but I've lost 22 lbs. so far since my consult (Dec.18/09).
Good luck!

Good luck!

Hi... I'm also scheduled for 4/20/10. Once I attended the weight loss seminar that my doctor holds, I joined Curves and have been going 3-4 times a week since. I've been writing down and calculating every piece of food that goes into my mouth and staying between 1200-1400 calories a day. I've lost 50 pounds so far. Looking forward to the surgery so I can get yet another tool to take the rest of the weight off, plus KEEP it off... which is a big issue for me.
The other thing I did was started taking all the vitamin supplements that my doctor recommends already - with the dieting (and probably my pre-menopausal age) my hair is thinning out and that freaked me out big time. So figured supplements could not hurt.
Basically I"m trying to get into the habit of doing as many things now as will be my 'new normal' after the surgery.
Best of luck to you !!
