Topic: RE: Lets introduce ourselves
Hey All! My name is Diane and I am 27. I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 7 years. We have one daughter who is 6.
I have been researching and i guess almost obsessively reading everything I can about WLS surgery for about 1 1/2 years. I personally began my journey seriously in July 08' when i attended the Information Seminar in Duluth, MN. The only surgery I have wanted for me has been the RNY. I couldn't stand the thought of having a foreign object in me (Lap Band) and the same as some others I think I need that idea of possibly dumping to help keep me on the straight and narrow
I am so excited and nervous! Tomorrow I begin the "final phase" lol. I begin a 2 week liquid diet then have my surgery April 2nd.
I wish you all the best!!!!

Thanks. I am hoping it will work for me too. I am very anemic and want another baby in the future so I can't have the malabsorbtion surgeries.
I am hoping finances work out too.

Congratulations! I hope everything works out for you and your husband. Finances are tough, I know, and I always have to remind myself that I'm paying the money to be healthy. Good luck! I've heard wonderful things about the VSG as a stand-alone procedure.

He'll be with his daddy and some close family friends for easter. I'm sure he'll be fine, but I'll sure miss him!

I guess I am parked here for now, unless they decide to change the date, which is possible since they haven't been consistent thus far.
It's a bitter sweet date for me though. I was hoping and praying it would be an earlier date so I'd pay less for COBRA, but that didn't happen. So now I will have to come up with an extra $500 for the COBRA costs. Dh is unemployed at the moment from being laid off, just days after I started this journey. We're still crossing our fingers he'll get called back to work soon as they told him they were trying to get him back to work before the end of the month which would really help, but until then we'll be paying COBRA.
So for now I am tenatively scheduled for April 24th.

Topic: RE: is it too early to buy me a pair of "skinny" jeans
I'm that way with Fashion Bug. Lane Bryant has only recently (in last 6 months) come back to PC at the beach. The difference in Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant is that Fashion Bug has the "skinny girl" side. But I DO NOT EVER want to buy anything from the "big girl" side again!!
My aunt gave me a really good idea. I just took all of my winter season clothes to a consignment store because I know I won't fit them next year. She told me to buy, from consignment stores, sizes large or medium winter clothes while they're on clearance at these stores. If for some reason they don't fit yet, they will someday. If they're too big, I'm not out much money. She said buy 1 nice "skinny" outfit to work towards, but don't buy new clothes until you hit your maintain weight.
As for the seasons coming up, spring and summer, buy a multitude of sizes, again from consignment stores, so that if you don't fit something, you're not out much money.
So rest assured, come payday, I'm doing some shopping!
