Hi Dolly,
I'm having an open duodenal switch and the dr says I will be in the hospital for 5 days.  I think that's a great idea, sharing pictures!  Maybe we can form our own little support group and stay in touch, all us April 13ers?  I'm sending you a friendship request.  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Thanks for the support.  It's one month until the big day and I am probably doing just what you said:  eating out of anxiety and for fear that I might never eat certain foods again.  I have to say though, some of my co-workers have had the same surgery and are eating a lot of the foods they had pre-op but you have to be careful to not fall into the same bad habits and eating foods that really aren't nutritious.  Wr can do it if we put our minds to it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well my surgery is to be on April 14th.  I am to have Roux-en Y (RNY).  I've checked around and am wondering is a Duodenal Switch (DS) would be better for me.  It looks like with the DS, regaining weight is practically not possible.  DS is a more risky surgery than RNY.  I have had 4+ decades of bad eating habits.  I am wondering if I can change my eating habits enough to make RNY a success.  Sigh.  Any of you have any thoughts on the RNY vs. the DS?  I know if I switch surgeries, it will be many more months before insurance approves me for a new surgery.

Hi Tamilynn,

My Mom used to work for one of Victoria's Secret (VS) call centers.  She clued me into what happens to the clothing (such as sweaters, coats, jeans, etc.) returned from VS catalog orders.  It is sold to a Columbus, Ohio based company called MJR.  They have a website at mjrsales.com.  They also sell on Ebay under the user name of mjrsales.  MJR will sometimes call VS items "famous catalog", or sometimes Moda, Via, or other brands sold through VS catalog.  MJR also sells clothing from other sources so you should check out VS website to see what clothing they offer, then look for it on MJR's sites.  You can really get some good deals via their Ebay site.

Best of wishes on your weight loss journey!

Mary

My dietitian put me on Flintstones complete chewable vitamins.  I have been taking them for a few months now.  She said 1 a day and I will get all I need.
