Hi my name is Terra.  I've been overweight my entire life.  I've had a long standing love affair with food.  I've decided to end the relationship.  Due to physical problems (arthritis) it is hard for me to do this on my own at this weight (exercising).  I also did tons of research and felt the lap band was the best choice for me.  Since I'm only 34 and no kids I just felt that cutting my insides was not the best choice.  I need to get a whole new mindset on how I view food.  I need to look at it as fuel for my body not something to do when I'm bored or emotional.  

I start my liquid diet this Friday and I'm not looking forward to it.  I hate feeling hungry.

I don't have hardly any friends on here and I'm going to use this a support group cause I live down in the swamps of the Everglades.  So please add me to your friends list.

congrats on the surgery! i too have thought about the DS. My insurance would have covered it but i did not find a doc on long island that would have performed it. I would have had to go to nyc. After reasearching i think i would still have gone with the RNY. Mainly because of the malabsortion factor. With Rny you have to follow a strict vitamin regimin and with DS it is more important 10 fold. I think i would be too nervous that DS would / could cause me health problems in itself in the long run. I guess i figured that RNY is somewhere in the middle and thats what feels right for me. I think that reguardless of what surgery we choose we will still have bad habits to break.. its gonna be a hard road but we can do it.....
