Hi there!
I'm also an april 27th girl :) I am down about 55# since surgery. I can't do bread without it being toasted. I also have a hard time getting the fluids in and actually the supplements too. :( I am working on it. I do not have any pain from the surgery at this point. Hope you are all doing well!!

Good evening! My date was also April 27th. I have lost a total of 65 lbs. so far, about 14 was from pre-op liquid diet. On top of walking are u also doing weight training? I guess that's the trick. I'm doing resistance training daily with hand held weights (10 lbs) and a resistance band with a balance ball. Have you tried just toast? I can eat only toasted bread. I've been living off of the wendy's ceasear salad all week. I only eat about 1/3 of it but it's so yummy. I also don't feel hungry in fact I forget to eat sometimes. I wanted to ask you if you still have any pain in your abdomen at all? I still get this pulling shooting pain kinda feeling in my left side. I wasn't sure if this is normal.

Good morning! Just wanted to see if we can get updates on the surgeries from April 27/09??? It has been a journey for me, 9 weeks post op...I feel like the weight is moving slower than I expected. I am walking everyday, but not sure if I am walking enough. Also, I am having a hard time with bread, or any sort, and a hard time getting in my water. I never feel hungry???? is this normal??? I am down 71lbs - about 13lbs preop on Optifast and the rest after surgery.

Hi Cindy,
Just thought I'd let you know I had my RNY surgery June 17th with Dr. Moore. Everything went very well. Felt terrible in the hospital,, but that was to be expected. By Sunday i was feeling very good and feel I could have returned to work Wednesday. When I went for my follow up appt. I teased Dr. Moore, asking if he really did the surgery. I've had no problems with food, gas or any of the other un-nice bodily function problems. I'm just not real crazy about the protein supplements. I'm having trouble finding one I like without aftertaste. and since I don't really care for chocolate I'm limited.
Well enough about me, how have you done these past 2 months?
Keep in touch,
Cindy in Gloucester

Sounds like a lot to contend with! What is your doctor saying?
Are you able to take high quality supplements? Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can wreak havoc with one's system, and they are so important to address. My mother went thru a similar situation where one problem led to another and she needed to go on IV's and stuff to get rebalanced. But, she was TOO slender and nearly 80 yrs old at the time.
In any case, she got rehydrated and filled up with potassium and mag. and became her old self again. Before this she had trouble with balance, walking and it even effected her cognition.
I hope that you are well on your way to restabalizing by the time you check this out.
Take care and let us know how you are doing!

Topic: 2 month f/u - anyone else here or close?
Hi All,
It'll be exactly 8 weeks since my 4/28 open rny on Tuesday.
I think I am faring quite well, and happy to have lost 38 lbs. so far. I am hoping for 40 by then, but since it is just 3 days away, can't be sure yet.
I am 5'3'' and I started at 304 the a.m. of surgery. My BMI was in the mid 50's
I'd love to hear how others are doing!
(Check out my blog (below) for a more in depth look at my journey, daily weights, eating habits, struggles, and triumphs)
Hope everyone is as happy with the surgery as I now am!

Good Morning everyone!
Stacey, thanks for the encouragement!
Butterfly,
I did not feel anything different with my first fill. I didn't know what to expect so therefore I don't think I set myself up thinking that I would not be able to drink or eat much but i was hopefull that it would. I felt some restriction every now and then but not enough to say I remember it. That was 4 weeks ago. My second fill is coming up tomorrow. I am hopefull that I will get a good fill to at least lose 1/2 a pound or 1 a week. I still weigh the same but I will see what the doctors electronic scale will say. I've been eating alot but not like the lion's appetite I used to have before surgery.
I will update next week.
Keep me posted on your fill! have a good weekend!
