Topic: 3rd Week Post Op

I'm new and just signed in today!
I had my surgery on 4/16/09.
Couldn't eat the first week much and barely sipped my protein and Gatorade

2ND week I drank my Gatorade and protein drinks, jello and Popsicles and started to get hungry

3rd week I was very hungry and per Dr Jay's assistant she said I could go ahead and begin with the soft foods which I did and skipped most of the pureed foods.  I do eat pudding, applesauce, yogurt, but have also eaten tuna/egg salad which was too heavy so I stuck with soft scrambled egg and/or hard boiled with cottage cheese, re fried low fat beans and sometimes guacamole.

now I'm concerned that I might be gaining weight.  my first fill isn't until 5/26.
i know i need to walk and do for about 5/10 minutes at work but not when i get home.
i will have to make that a priority and try to become more active.  i do however, move around the house more and try to do housework but sometimes that is limited as well since my port still hurts and i still can't bend down properly because of my port side, left.

i am neutral right now and want to go up to great! which at some point during the day/night i do feel that way.

Do you guys find that they are way too SWEET? I've tried everything from Whey protein shakes to the liquid no carb drinks. Everything tastes like it has a pound of sugar in it.

Hey guys I had surgery on the 13th as well. I've only had one bad experience.
I tried to eat some deli turkey, I either ate it too fast or drank too soon. Boy I was
sick for 10 straight hours with the poo's. I haven't been throw up sick yet. =)
I'm bored with the foods though. I'm tired of chicken, refried beans, and tuna.
I love the string cheese sticks. Doc took me off the protein drinks, it was giving
me liquid poo.
Good news is I've lost 20 lbs since the day of surgery. I have to take a "power nap"
when I get in from work and then I am good.
I've only had one craving and its just a taste thing...I'd give anything for a bite of a
whopper jr from Burger King. I'm not hungry just want the taste. No worries I won't
screw that up. I haven't waivered from the restrictions at all.
I've tried crab meat, tuna, salmon, turkey burger, chicken and egg salad. No problems

Topic: RE: 2 weeks out! report in!
Hi there - I am new to the site.  I had my surgery on April 20th.  Everything went good, although my potassium was a little low after surgery (which is pretty common).  I go back to work on May 11th.  I just "graduated" to pureed food and am loving it!!!  I agree with the statement about the protein drinks... I don't know what happened, but at this point I will do anything but have one!  I am 26lbs down and feel completely different, but my bottoms aren't feeling any different.  I can see a difference in my face and neck, along with my chest.  I didn't have much discomfort, except for the drainage site.  My sister had surgery in November and has lost 83lbs already!!!  I am so excited for that day to come for me.

Take care all!!

Topic: RE: SURGERY SET FOR 4/20/09
Well, 4/20 came and went.  I thought I was going to have gastric bypass surgery, but they just removed my gall bladder and said I needed to heal for 6-8 weeks before doing the actual procedure.  Disappointed?  Not entirely.  Only because I have been waiting so long for a permanent position and I had a 2nd level interview (last minute scheduled for 4/23).  If I did the procedure, I would NOT have made the interview.  And to top it all off... I got the job (1 of 431 applicants!)  Yay!  Today is my first day.  I will reschedule my surgery - thinking more with the holidays/Christmas since I can't very well ask for 3-4 weeks off when I just started!  Oh well, I'm still planning on it... but just a delay.  Ciao for now...

yep, went back to work on wednesday, it was quite overwhelming. I'm going back to the gym tomorrow. I saw Lisa on thursday, my incision looked a lil bad, luckily it was not infected. As of that day, i was down 9 lbs. Very happy about that. I still get tired really easy, but just taken it slow. I'm also up to puree foods. YES, much quicker than 3 weeks, I know. So glad to hear you are doing well!!!

Cara -

Just checking to see if you found an answer for the feeling you described in your post.  I was banded on 4/28 and I did not have any of the symptoms that you had.  Did you post on the LapBand board?  Everyone there is always very helpful with whatever you have going on!  Please let us know how you are!

Hope you have a speedy recovery.  I am having lapband May 5.  Any words of advice?  I am doing the protein shakes and I am sooo tired of the sweetness.
