I had my VSG (sleeve) Surgery on April 24th. I am almost 20 weeks post op, come this Friday, but currently I have lost 93 pounds so far and have gone from a size 30+ down to a 20!!
My challenges have been dehydration, a few times, but other than that I am still learning what my new tummy likes and dislikes, but for the most part it likes normal food. Thankfully I have been very happy with the extreme restriction of only being able to eat 2-3 bites max before getting super full. It can take me 2-3 hours to eat a small 2 cup meal and I love it! I am satisfied and losing weight well.
I am hoping to lose 7-8 more pounds to reach that hundred pound weight loss so I can treat myself to some shape wear. Right now I have a horrible muffin top.
Next goal is to reach that elusive 199, just to truly say I am below 200 for the first time in probably 19+ years!

Mom to 8 ~ Adelyn Grace arrived July 8, 2010!
The surgery helped with portion control, even though that wasn't my big issue. Mine was quality of food. Luckily, I don't really care for fast food anymore. I have kicked up my exercise program since I am just about at a couple of hurdles that tend to slow down weight loss - 6 month anniversary and 100 lb loss mark.
My nutritionist said that with the exercise plan I am currently using I shouldn't have any problem getting to goal.
Pre planning is the key for me. Plan ahead and then I don't have that question of what to eat - I already know and have planned for it. When I don't do this - I graze all day. Which in turn causes me to not get my water in for the day.
It is a journey - but I am very glad I hopped on board.
I have lost 81lbs since my RNY surgery on 4-13-09. That does include weight lost preop. I seem to be losing slower than alot of others but the weight still is coming off 1 lb at a time and thats all that matters to me. I have to admit that i did not exercise until about a month ago, now i walk 2 miles at least 3 times a week. I eat pretty much anything I want now except no sugar, and I try to stay away from white carbs. I also only take about 2 -3 bites and get full, I have a real big problem with not drinking when i eat, it is something i am working on. I have gone from a size 26/28 to a 18/20 and sometimes a 16/18. I am hoping to be in onederland by my 6 month appt in oct. If I really work hard I can do it, but if i'm close that's ok too. I have so much more energy and I notice that people treat me different and smile at me more. I am still adjusting to eating my food too fast and not chewing enough. I don't regret this surgery at all , and i tell anyone that asks me about it that i would do it again in a heartbeat!!!
Hello!! I am just a few days shy of being 6 months post-op RNY and I have lost 105 lbs. I was VERY excited to make the century club last month, however, I still have a ways to go before I make it to goal. I did have a bout of dehydration in July, otherwise, I've been really fortunate in the respect that I haven't had any complications. RNY has literally saved my life! I can't begin to say how much of a blessing it has been for me! I do worry - as I get further out - that I am eating too much (yes, I'm a bit obsessed with it!!) It scares me to death to think of streaching my pouch... May I ask, about how many calories do fellow-April RNY-ers eat in a day?? Any tips to offer on keeping the daily caloric intake low? Thanks in advance for any input!
