Looking forward to chatting with you all! Can't wait to hear your thoughts, feelings, ideas about this major life changing event!
Good luck and peace to you all! Joie
I don't know about you but I've been reading every book I can get my hands on about WLS. The library system in CT is excellent and you can search the entire state and get any book that's available delivered to your local library. I heart my library very much :)
Anyway, I'm reading, "It Ain't Over 'til the thin lady sings", by Michelle Ritchie. She is an addiction and substance abuse counselor so this book is A LOT about the "head hunger", emotional eating and exploring all of those issues that don't magically go away just because you have this surgery. This is just the book I've been looking for. There are lots of great questions and prompts for writing if that's your thing.
I keep telling myself that I don't want to forget what this misery of 250+ pounds has been like. I am a classic "road to you know where being paved with good intentions" kinda girl and struggle with instant gratification vs. long term reward. If you spend any time at all reading the forums you hear a lot of talk about still struggling with head hunger, not exercising like we're supposed to, people "testing" to see if sugar, candy, soda make them dump and being terrified when it doesn't. As far as I'm concerned, I don't even want to know so my mantra is "There are NO exceptions to the rules! Period. Finito. Nada, None. El Nope O. At least, that's what I tell myself but it's always easier said than done.
OK, so anyway, the book is good. I'll have it back to the library in a week or so if you in CT and wondering who has all the damn WLS books out.
Have a great day! Joie
