Topic: Thanks for all the r...
Thanks for all the replys to my message. I am now one week out and feeling much better. To Miss Lady the pressure you are feeling may not be just gas but actually your band. I could feel mine, no doubt, and it was so uncomfortable. That only lasted for a couple of days. Now I can still feel it but I think I'm getting used to it. It was day five before I began to overcome the gas. I used ginger tea, cinnamon tea, deep breathing through my nose and was very careful not to inhale air as I ate. I could lay on my right side on the 4th night. However, day 7, I was dumb enough to go out shopping with my husband. Just a few things and a few stops...you know the routine. Although, I was very careful, no cartwheels, by the time we got home, I was so sore, I could feel every incision. And, I could not sleep on my side. You better believe I have been a very good girl today and am feeling much better. I am already sick of the liquid diet...not because it's liquid so much but because it's boring and tasteless. So I got busy. I love to cook. You might want to try a couple of recipes I came up with. Potato Soup Bake one 5 oz. potato ( I think reds are so flavorful even if you shouldn't bake them) 1/4 c. skim milk 1/2 T. butter 2 T. garlic hummus dip (Trader Joe's) S&P to taste (do this after you've blended) then blend again ***** and bake the potato in the microwave for 3-4 min. While still hot slip the skip off. Now mash and add the milk and butter. I just mash down with a fork because this will be blended. Now add the hummus. I put this in my Bullett Blender (which was well worth the investment) and blend until absolutely smooth. Measure out a 1/2 cup and put this in the microwave to heat...about 1 min. on high. There are other dip you can use this way and the flavors are really good. Nutrition on this 130 calories and 5.9 protein Chicken Noodle Soup Healthy Choice chicken noodle soup 1/2 can 2 T. Campbells cream of chicken soup Remove the chicken from the soup. Now add all to the blender, Bullett is great for this, and blend until totally creamed. Measure 1/2 cup and heat. This will make 2 servings 1/2 cups each. Nutrition 70 calories Really simply but good. Milly J

Topic: RE: Weight gain before surgery!
I did the same thing ...gained 7 lbs. after my initial visit to the surgeon. My RNY is April 18 ,and I was scheduled for my preop physicial with the surgeons NP> I started my preop diet a day earlier and when I went to the surgeon I was down 1lb and1/2. It's important that your liver size is reduced so the chance of the surgeon can avoid knicking it during the surgery. Bottom line is is you want a safer outcome, you'll do what you have to do. It hasn't been that difficult. Good luck...you'll get it together. Susan

Yes everyone's journey is different. I went in with the attitude of this was going to not be difficult for me and that God was going to take away the pain and that is what he did. Now I still dont have too much pain, but I do have tons of gas. That is the worse part of the entire surgery. I am a bit weak from not eating much but this too shall pass.

Topic: RE: Had Surgery April 2
Hey Guys, I had my surgery on April 2 also and I did not have to bad of a time with it. Some soreness but the gas pains were the worse. Right now I feel like something is stuck in my chest and it wont go down. That is so annoying. To me it feels like acid reflux but my doctor say's it's not reflux because he repaired a hernia while he was in there. He says it's still just gas. I really wi**** would hurry up and go away. I am very tired also and it does not take much for me to really feel out of it. I guess it's because I can get very little protein down. I just started on full liquids on Wednesday so I am really having to make myself drink my protein and eat my yogurt.

Topic: RE: DOES ANYONE HAVE DR. WARNOCK OF TEXAS
Michelle, Dr W is my doctor and I love him. He cares so much for his patients. The office is usually running behind so expect to wait on your appointment. During the appointment Dr. W will talk to you about what surgery you are considering and he will get to know you. He will explain the surgery and the essentials you need to know to start the process to surgery. He might even put you on a diet. After the appt. you will see Debbie and she will explain all that your insurance requires of you to be approved. Everyone in the office is great. If you get a chance, stop by the resource center and check out what they have. Hope this helps. Let me know how your appt goes!! FYI. I think I was at his office for about 2 hours during my first appt. most of which was waiting, but it was SO worth it!!

Topic: Weight gain before surgery!
Hi All! My surgery date is April 29th and so cannot wait! However I am very concerned about my recent weight gain. I have gained about 7 lbs since I had seen my surgeon. I am now back on a full excerise program and low fat diet, however I am worried that I will not be able to have the surgery because of my 7lb weight gain. Does anyone have any answers......
