Topic: RE: hair loss
Used nioxin but lost a lot of hair anyway...go to a good really good colorist and hair dresser and use nioxin and up the protien...it is unfortunately based on genetics and your tolerance to the anasthetic that was used and length of time you were under...just remember you are unique...just like everyone else...grin....but really nioxin seemed to make a difference but my hair will never be as thick or the same color again..small price to pay for curing diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea though.....leslieg7

Topic: RE: Required 6-month Diet for Surgery Approval
i have cigna, they required 6 months unless you have seen a dr. on going within the last year about your weight loss only. you have to do it it will fly by, then you will get your surgery. mke sure in the 6 mths you have everything from every dr. medical gyno, any dr. relating to any problems you have had i have had gout, high blood pressure, pcos, for 20 years i went back and got copies of all my records and most importantly showed my bmi for evrey appt. it took awhile However i was approved in 2 days. that was the second time the first time i sent it in they said wasnt enough evidence of co morbidities so idid my own work getting all of this done. sent it in on friday got my letter back on tuesday. i am now 8 weeks out lost 36 pounds feel great. but i dont see how you can over come that 6 mths. also be careful if you lose to much weight in the 6 months they my realize you can lose weight which is redundant if you could lose it and keep it off we wouldnt be here now. So get to work. god bless,

Topic: RE: My Surgery Date is 4/22
I felt just like you, i made my decision to have my surgey while shopping in target of all places i had been accepted for both the lap band & gastric, i was going to get the lapband, however ws discouraged by many people, and the gastric was the last thing on my mind, but when i got my call i needed to tell them what surgery i chose, i just spitout gastric, 3 weeks later i had it , i thought i was going to die, not wake up, pain, i have to say i have to this day not had any dumping, i had minmal pain afterwards, only alot of gas, make sure you walk alot to getthat out. i had my surgery and 2 h0urs later i was walking up and downthe halls, that was the worst of it, this was my second surgery i have ever had in my 45 years, and i could not have been happier, i got my surgery with Dr. Byrnes at musc charleston, sc. keep in mind its normal to be nervous, but these Dr.s and staff do this everyday, however, it's not normal for us to obese. you will be fine, I ma 8 weeks out of surgery lost 36 pounds, now i dont even know i have had surgery except i cant eat as much. thank god, take care god bless. keep in touch

Topic: RE: pre op diet
you didnt hear it from me and some people may think this is bad advise, however after abt two weeks trying to do the right thing before my surgery i talked to several people i knw that had the surgery they said the heck with it eat what you want in moderatin, because after the surgery you have no choice, so i did i am 8 weeks out have lost 36 pounds very happy. i would suggest start walking or putting in some frm of excersise and get more used to that it will be easy not to eat. god bless

Topic: pre op diet
Hi this is Kathy and I have started my pre-op diet. My surgery is the 29th. I went to little or no carbs as of Saturday. I am starving! I still have a big stomach, and just protein is not filling it up. I have been starting my day with a protein shake and adding a few fresh strawberries and some Dannons FF-SF yogurt. I did not realize how addicted to carbs I am. Last night I had a hamburger patty and lots of broccoli and that satisfied my for a little while but it has been the only thing. This is hard....any ideas?? Thanks, Kathy
