Hi friends! Lately, I've been spending the majority of my time on the lightweights board. Ha, I've never been light anything! It makes me happy. I have been drinking tons and tons of ginger tea. It is the only thing that touches my nausea at all. I sort of wish I had a binder! That left-to-the-belly-button sore is killin' me! Rebec

Hey Debbie, my Lap-Band is scheduled the same day as yours, but in Florida. Basically, the preoperative diet is to shrink your liver so they can get to your stomach more easily. Pretty much a liquid diet with protein shakes to hold hunger to a minimum, lots of water, sugar-free jello (all you can eat), some yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. It makes sense to me for their reasons, and not at all about preop weight loss, but for safety regarding surgery. Mine is for 10 days, not two full weeks. Anyway, good luck on your surgery and can't wait to hear about your success.

Topic: Lap-Band Date 4-30-08
I've been trying for surgery for almost 4 years, fought two insurance companies and lost. I managed somehow to get a loan and my surgery is set for 4-30! I quit smoking in late 3-08. I also put the daily glass of red wine on the back shelf. I am calling this my re-birth. Each time something seems difficult, I just say to myself that was in the past and that is not me anymore. I am doing the preop diet, and i have read that a good liver cleanser/shrinker to prepare for surgery is dandelion tea, chicory coffee, rosemary sprinkled on top of anything you can tolerate and artichoke anything. I know the preoperative diet is not to lose weight, it is to cleanse and shrink your liver so they can get to your stomach. After all this waiting, I don't want to do anything that will postpone my surgery. If anyone with surgery scheduled for same date or close wants a "loser" buddy, please contact me at [email protected].

Had my surgery on the 18th and I have the same symptoms you have, EXACTLY. I am new to this blog, but my nausea is horrible. I also have a weird metallic taste in my mouth. Let me know if you find out anything that will help...

we were also given a booklet at the nutrition class....2 diets to follow: one is all liquid for 10 days b4 surgery..purpose is to deplete your stored glycogen which will make surgery easier (according to booklet). The other is for those that are diabetic and it is a 1200 cal diet based onthe food exchanges. I'm scared of getting too hungry on the liquid diet, so I started the diabetic diet this am ( which our nutritionist said we could do if we couldn't follow the liquid diet). On it tho, u have to do all liquids 3 days b4 surgery. debi
