Topic: RE: Tomorrow.....is only a day away!!!!
Just checking in to see how you are doing. I am doing fairly well. No trouble other than gas pain, well except for minimal incisional pain. Oh, and I get the hiccups once in a while, that really hurt too. Write me back when you are up to it and let me know how things are going for you.
hugs and blessings

Topic: Home from the hospital!!!!!
Well I came home from the hospital and things are going well. I had a really easy time the first two days, was up and walking over a half hour at a time. Then they took me off the dilaudid pump and put me on oral percocet. What a way to find out percocets don't work for me. Needless to say I had a major set back on day three. But they changed my medication and things are great again. The only problems I have are with the gas......it hurts so bad sometimes it brings me to tears. The gas ex doens't help all that much with that either. Walking around is the best thing for it..... just a little tip. If your tummy is rumbling but nothing will come out, you can't pass the gas, sit on the toilet and rock back and forth, this seems to help expel the gas better. As for tolerating the water, then stage two, and stage three bariatric diet I have never had any trouble. Keeping everything down, no pain with drinking. Getting in about 28-32 grams of protein a day right now, and at least 64 ounces of water. As soon as I get the unflavored protein powder I can mix that in the water and my protein intake will go up even more. Not too bad only being four days out. Don't think I lost anything yet. Not going to weigh myself until I have my first follow up appt next friday. Will post as soon as I get the weigh in done. Going to lay down and get some sleep now. Will write again really soon.
Topic: RE: April 16th, I had my surgery
I had my RNY on April 16th. I also missed food a bit but I am now a size smaller in two weeks and that made me not miss my old food! Talk about motivation! Hang in there. I was able to start limited soft foods a week out (scrambled eggs, yogurt, cheese, apple sauce, mashed potatoes, grilled fish, tuna, refried beans). See my blog. Good luck.

Hi Tammy - I feel the same way and although I don't wish this upon you, it helps knowing I'm not in the same boat. I had a RNY on April 16th and I've certainly had my moments of grieving as well!! I don't think I was prepared to go through this part quite so soon, I thought it might hit later, but I've been struggling the whole time. I feel as if it's hard to talk to anyone about this part, since after all this is something I elected to do..it was my choice to have this procedure. I have to keep reminding myself that there were valid health reasons that led me to this decision, but right now it's really hard. I'm still searching for some answers and hope that time will help us along this journey. Anyway, enough about that, just wanted you to know that you are not alone in your feelings. I'll be thinking of you.

Topic: RE: Lower Back Pain on Liquid Diet?
It sounds like it could be your gall bladder. I had surgery 4-02-08, experienced back pain, had a gall bladder ultrasound and they found gall stones. Because my symptoms showed up so soon after my surgery, my Doc said they had to be pre-existing. When I went online to read the symptoms, I realized I've probably had stones for about four years. I swore it was my kidneys too. I insisted on a urine even after a CAT scan (before the ultrasound). I did South Beach and Weigh****chers off and on for about ten years. I'm not surprised I have stones. I read it's hereditary too. Let me know how you turn out. It sounds like your pain is worse than mine. Hang in there.

Hi Shirlyn!
I would like a copy of your diet.
Thanks

Hi Meka,
After I read your post, I tried it. VERY DISAPPOINTING! I guess satisfaction comes from it hitting the stomach Laura
Topic: RE: LapBand 5/5/08 (2 week fast???)
My liquid diet was tough (and I'm still on it for two weeks AFTER surgery as well), but you have to keep the goal in sight. Of course, by day 8 I simply had to have a PB&J sandwich. The key is finding a variety of liquids that keep you satisfied... and I'm still working on it Good luck! Laura

Hi Tammy,
I had my RNY on the 23rd, and for the first two days I kept thinking, "What have I done?!" But I slowly started realizing that food WILL come back, just in smaller quantities. I'm already embarrassed when I think of my On The Border feasts of the past! But I look forward to smaller feasts in the future. Hope you get to feeling better soon! Laura
