Topic: RE: I'm Officially a Foamie
My stomach won't accept anything in it and if it does, by chance, make it through to the intestines, they clamp down as if they're trying to violently rid themselves of some toxic substance. The cramps were debilitating and after a time they'd cause me to throw up, which has topped my list of household chores to be completed daily.
They tried to do an abdominal CT but I couln't hold down the contrast. So they decided to put it in the OTHER end. Well, about 10 seconds into that my bowels clamped down and SPRAYED that room with what was inside me. It was utterly humiliating. After all that, the CT came back normal.
My surgeon is stumped and is considering going back in to look around. I'd like that, I think. The testing is showing nothing new.
I'm so tired and frustrated and sick of being sick.
The ER visits were related to profuse vomiting and abdominal cramping and for migraine that couldn't be treated by oral meds. Not being able to take over the counter meds has its drawback.
(sigh) Still looking for the silver lining.
Topic: RE: April 2008 RNY's
Ok, after reading others posts I feel better knowing others are about where I am but still bummed I have not lost more. Time to check in again you mid April RNY's. My BMI was 41 preop. Started day of surgery at 242. Scale read 213.4 today, yes to me the .4 matters when the scale moves so slowly. Almost 8 weeks out. RNY on 4/16. Please... lets share numbers again so we can put our minds at ease.
Also, how much are you exercising? I dont want a hernia and avoided any exercise other than work related walking until last weekend and started exercising in the pool. Thought it better to heal first. Have had no vomiting at all! Tolerating food well. Still need more protein.

Topic: I'm Officially a Foamie
So it's been six weeks since my RNY, and I've had two nausea-free days. Only two. Three ER visits in 9 days. Had I only known, I NEVER would have had this done. But what's done is done. Now, any ideas about how to start dealing with it?
Topic: RE: Think I hit my first stall....only 2.5 weeks out????
I am so glad to see I am not alone. At my two week check-up I had lost 30 pounds from when I came home from the hospital. That was one week ago yesterday and I have actually gained a few pounds since then. I agree with the comment about checking inches. My wife tells me she can see it, and I can feel it as well. I should be grateful that by blood sugar is way down and I am off insulin. So I'll choose to be cautiously optimistic and hope the stall goes away soon!
Topic: RE: Anyone out there have the Sleeve?
Hi Jenna,
I had the sleeve on 04-16-08 and I'm doing pretty good I think. I am 34 and 5'8". My heighest weight was 306 lbs. My starting weight was 279 lbs. And my current weight is 227. I weighed 260 on my surgery date. I do have a lot of stalls but then I lose like 5 pounds all at once. My doctor says I am doing excellent. My goal is 170. I have 57 to go. So how are you doing with your sleeve?

I had surgery April 21st and I am down 28 lbs. Us worry warts seem to be pretty close in weight loss. I say "let's hang in there and it will come off". I do feel better that most of us are around the same weight loss. It will take time!
Topic: RE: Breaking out in hives
I am taking a liquid form of B12 that you leave under your toungue for 20 seconds once a week. The hives seem to move everywhere; arms, legs, stomach, face. I have been taking Benedryl but it makes me tired and dragging around. MY PCP gave me some pills methopredesone but it did not seem to help. Maybe I will skip a dose of B-12 to see if that helps. Thanks for your input.
