Topic: RE: Comparing to others and going nuts!!!
I too feel it is taking too long. My RNY was 4/15 and I am down 42lbs. When I do the math it looks like about 4 lbs per week. Which in reality (not my altered state of I want to lose 50 lbs this week) is pretty good, and better than I EVER was able to accomplish in all my years of dieting. The one thing that keeps me motivated when I start getting envious is corney, but: slow & steady wins the race. After all is said and done, the one thing we can count on is that we WILL Lose the weight this time and the more we want it off now, only inspires us to KEEP it off FOREVER!!!
Stay positive, focus on your new body, new eating and keep up the good work.

Well Caryn, I had my RNY April 24 and I've definitely been struggling with getting protein in and just eating period. But, I believe (I'm going thru the same type of bowel movements) that we're both fine and that as long as there is no blood/or pain and we're somewhat "regular", we're good to go hon!

Hi Michele,
I'm right there with you! I had my surgery on April 23 and as of, just over, 9th week have lost 45 pounds. That, of course, is more then I've been able to get off in over ten years, but I still look at others and feel a little envious (ok, a lot envious! lol). I'm trying to work on being grateful for the lbs lost and hoping that it will just continue on to allow me to get to my goal weight. I guess it's like most anything, always wanting what the other has (like wanting curly hair instead of my fine, stick straight hair). LOL!
As to the hair loss, I have no advice to offer. I can sympathize though 'cause I'm definitely noticing more strands in the shower drain! Unfortunately, can't say that I expect it to get better anytime soon. I'm just going to "grin" and deal and really hope I don't need to get a wig before it gets better! Please let me know if you actually find something that works!!

I have RNY on 4/10, I do struggle getting all my protein in. I track it faithfully on fitday.com. Since about week 2 I have had mustard colored bowel movements. Is this normal or should I call the doctor?

My start weight was 387 with a bmi of 60.6. Now on 6/26/08 weight is 295 with a bmi of 46.4. I just eat normal now. No fried foods, alot of fish, shrimp, grilled stuff. I can't do hamburger meat. Just turkey meat. I walk almost everyday.
