Topic: RE: OK VSG's & Lap band responses only (no offense)
(Ticker includes 25 lbs lost pre-op)
I had the VSG April 30. The day of surgery I was 252 and today I was 195.5, so my post surgery weight loss is 56.5 in just over 4 months. My calories average about 600-700 a day. The Nut told me not to worry about that as long as I get in at least 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water. I don't eat any refined carbs or fruit. I've been just sticking to mainly protein and add in vegetables as I can.
For breakfast, I like to mix a 4 oz FF cottage cheese snack pack with a 4 oz low fat yogurt cup together. That gives me 17 grams of protein and 160 calories. Or I have a cup of Fage yogurt, w/90 calories and 15 grams protein. Or I have two ounces of ham or cheese or egg whites with FF shredded cheese sprinkled on top.
Your being hungry every three hours sounds about right to me. I eat 4 or 5 times a day myself.
Hope this helped...

You have done great. Obviously you weren't as heavy as me in the first place and have less to lose. You know the saying....the bigger you are the more you can lose faster. Then it starts slowing down. So, you have lost just as much as me in a different kind of way. You know what I mean.
Thank God I have not lost any hair yet. I don't know if I am just going to lose it later or whether I'm not going to lose it at all. I really hope I don't. I have been religious with my vitamins and with drinking protein supplements. I take in at least 90 grams of protein daily without fail because of my protein shakes.
Congrats to you....I know you feel better too!

Have you tried the Whey protein bullet? It is 42 grams, mix it with water and ice and it's great! I like the grape and cherry flavor.

wow, you are doing really well! I am only down 60 pounds in four months and have 50 to go. Are you working out at a gym?
I walk everyday and have built some muscle. I amy into a size 14 from a 24, so that's cool.
the only down side is hair loss, bummer.

Let us know if you find any miracle drug/vitamin! I am four months out and am losing hair by the handful as well. It stinks!
I understand that Rogain may help so I'm off to walgreens.

Hi, let me know what you find out. I am 4 months post surgery and am losing hair too fast! It is frustrating because I have been eating, drinking protein religiously! I am taking zinc and biotin along with other vitamins. Ugh! I have been getting my hair dyed but am rethinking that one. I have been reading that Rogain may help so I am off to Walgreens. I'll try anything.
I also read that it will begin to grow back after 4 months of loss. This is my first month of loss! I understand that part of the hair loss is due to trauma that is a result of the surgery and not just the protein vitamin issue.
At least I know that I am not alone.

Well...4 months out and still loving my RNY. I can't believe the changes in my life.
1) Down 90 pounds
2) off of blood pressure meds
3) diabetes in remission
4) wearing size 16 pants
5) I can cross my legs
6) I look like a normal person
7) I am no longer the "biggest" person in the room
8) I haven't taken a nap during the day since surgery
9) I have more energy
10) I don't hurt as bad as I used to
11) I can wear all of my jewelry again
12) I do not shop in the women's section
13) My youngest daughter is so thrilled she can put her arms all the way around me now.
14) I feel I have my life back
15) I don't feel like I am 90 years old anymore.
I could go on and on and on. What a difference 90 pounds make. I have about 60 pounds to go and I will be at my goal!
Let's hear everyone's WOW success stories!

I think you ought to call your Dr. I believe I read somewhere that edema could be a side affect of not enough protein.

Just a note to let you know I'm 4 mos out and I'm at a stall also. In my situation I had lost 50 pd prior to the surgery and now I've lost 80 more pounds. I feel great but I've decided to stop getting on the scale....I just get bummed and I don't need to feel depressed. I have be losing my hair but nothing you can see by looking at me but I can see it in either my brush or comb. It's OK I'm not worried about it. Congrats on your 4 mos anniversay....did it seem like it's been a whole lot longer than just 4 mos....it does for me.....Sending happy thoughts...Mary H
