Hi Everyone!  I'm a newbie to this April 2008 board but figured I might as well jump in!

I'm an April 14th baby!   My hightest was 265, consult weight in Dec of 07 was 259.  I am 5'2" tall!  Had my 6 month check up with the surgeon and nut today and I have lost 127.5 (52 prior to surgery!)  I am now at a "normal" BMI!  WHOOHOO!!  And, I've lost 102% of my excess body weight!  I'm slightly anemic (but I've been anemic for years!) but all my other labs are great!

Feel free to check out my pre/post pix on my profile!

Life is grand!  Thanks for letting me share!

Hi, Feeling great here in NJ!!!  I had my RNY on 4/30/08 and I'm down 89 lbs.  Exercise is a daily way of life for me now.  I walk 3 miles at least 5 times/week, take yoga twice a week, Zumba class once a week and circuit training 3 - 4 times/week.  If I still have some pent up energy, I hop on the treadmill at the Y.  Moving is all I know these days.

In a big stall right now and really want to shake up that darn scale.  Saw the surgeon last week and he estimates that in the next 12 months I will lose another 30 lbs.  After I stabilize at that weight for a year, I will go for a PS consult.  Wearing a 12 on top and almost a 12 on the bottom.  Love to go shopping in my closet.

I know water/hydration is a tough point for me but I'm trying.  Protein is easier.  My hair is falling out and I've already cut it shorter, very discouraging but I knew to expect this.  Taking Biotin, whether it works or not.

Love roller coasters, too!

I dont have too many bad issues.  Biggest is bread, we dont agree on things thinese days at all.  I wont even try it again for now, as everytime I do I get sick.

Congrats to everyone and Keep up the Good work

I'm happy to throw my story so far into the mix...

April 1st is my date. I'm 5'11, started out at 273, was 272 day of surgery, so that's the number I go by. This week on Tuesday (my surgery was on a Tuesday so I weigh only on Tuesdays) I was at 172.4, and hell yes that .4 counts!! So I am just about at 100lbs lost.

I had a rough time eating from May through the end of July. I really could not tolerate much. As time goes on, though, I have tried more foods & can tolerate a lot more these days. Still have a rough time with solid proteins.
My pre-albumin levels were low in July & are still low, so I'm working on bringing those up with some good quality protein.

I am a bit freakish about exercising, I go to the gym or run 4-5 miles about 5 times a week. I don't touch any white sugar at all, haven't tested those waters and don't expect to do so any time soon.
I get all of my water in every day... some days don't get my vitamins in, and some days I don't eat at all because the idea of it makes me sick.

The weight loss slowed down in August & September, but I seem to be back on track this month. To be honest I don't really care if I don't lose another pound. I started this saying "I need to lose 100lbs" and I have. I'm happy.

My RNY was on 4/16.  I am 5'4" tall. High was 261 about 6 weeks preop (I dont count this in my numbers as I was intentionally gaining if you know what I mean) while I was playing the "nutrition game" and ensured my bmi was above 40.   Then went on the pre op diet two weeks before surgery and my weight day of surgery was 242.  This is the number I go by.  I am down to 159.5!  Yes, that .5 pound counts in my book!!!!  I am a slow loser but have caught up to many who were well ahead of me at month 3.   Feeling great. Have not vomited once!  Just updated my blog and added my 6 month postop pictures.  I rarely exercise. I, know, get moving. Made a pack yesterday to change that! The skin on my arms is going to be bad. No surprise. But everything else looks good so far. The hair loss is slowing down.  It was really bad between months 4 and 5. Read my blog for the foods I have "experimented" with. I tested the waters in September at the Nascar race.  My version of dumping, if I can call it that is diahreah. Can't really say I know if I dump on sugar or fat for sure because I really have not pushed the limits and honestly am too scared to have a full on dumping episode.  I have also discovered that going on a liquid protein only diet (I use Nectar) for about 3 days breaks stalls! It has worked the three times I tried it!  I noticed that the scale does not move during my monthly cycle. But this last month, I did the liquid protein thing those few days and boom, lost 3 pounds that week! Going to try to do it every month. Think it will help with the PMS cravings.

Hoping others with April 2008 surgery dates will post their updated info here and  copy it to their blogs  so we can share in our successes.    Congrats! Can't wait to hear from you!  Kim

Topic: What makes you dump?
Been thinking about the past six months and determining what make me dump carbs or fat or both.  Also thinking about what my gram limits are. Havent really pushed the issue to see what they are.   I havent vomited once. Not ever. My version of dumping is when I have had a few bad episodes of the runs usually within about a half hour of eating.  What are other RNY post ops limits for fat and carbs before you dump?

Mine has been really dark...they said from too much calcium and iron. Don't feel bad I freaked. I have to take fibercon sometimes since I won't go for a week or so at a time.
