I thought I was wanting surgery earlier, then I started reading and wow is there ever a lot to learn! I wish someone would just make us a grocery list for the first month after surgery. Besides the shakes and foods, things like liquid Tylenol etc. would be sooo helpful! Also WHERE to get all these things too. I'm learning, but it takes a lot of my time surfing the net. So far I have not read anyone *****gretted doing the surgery after they got past the all liquid phase.

My surgery date is April 7th and I am getting so excited. I have been on this journey for 5 years. 3 years of making the decision and 2 years of jumping through the hoops. Hopefully no last minute hitches. My fingers are crossed!

CONGRATS on your date!!! Yayyyyy!!!
I find it interesting how the different surgical centers have different processes for pre op. I don't have to be on the shakes or liquid diet. I have to follow a protien diet... I am allowed 4 oz of protein 1 cup veggie, and one cup fruit..no carbs no sugars 3 times a day with no snacking in between. I was told by the nurse that this is to shrink my liver prior to surgery. She also said that the dr.'s have gone in, and if your liver hasn't shrunk they can't do the surgery. Can you imagine getting all excited and having the big day, only to wake up from anestesia and find out that they couldn't do the surgery??? Talk about a good motivator to stick with it!
Good luck to you wth your diet... the next coupld of months are going to be tough fofr all of us!!
