A lot of people don't list what surgery they have had when posting or blogging. Also A lot of people include their pre-op loss in with their post op loss and it confuses people like me *****ally want to know who has had a VSG and how much they have lost from day of surgery until now. I had the VSG April 29th of 2008 and today is my three months and I have only lost 40lbs. I am very worried I am behind the 8 ball. I am hungry every 3 hours faithfully, I still crave pizza. Although I have only tried it a few times since surgery. There are only so many times I can eat eggs for breakfast. What else does anyone eat for protein for breakfast? I am not a sausage person, so that's out. I am running out of Ideas. Lunch well that is easy and dinner is easy for protein although I eat to many carbs. I know this. I do work out 4-5 times per week. 30 minutes each time. (TREADMILL) I just feel like I am doing something wrong. I almost feel like I am eating to often and maybe to much. Can anyone else out there shed some light on my weightloss and please don't respond with the " when's the last time you lost 40 lbs speech" I am serious. I wouldn't give mot one of those pounds back, don't get me wrong. I feel great and have double the energy I used to but I see myself as a failure so far. Please give me your feedback. I am also consuming around 1000-1400 calories per day. Is that too much? i also have been having a flank pain in my right lower back. It is not a kidney stone. I have had those before and i have had this pain for about 3 weeks. i keep thinking I slept wrong or twisted. Should I be concerned?

Hi, I had the VSG on April 18th of this year and have lost 56 lbs as of today...you are on track with the averages I've seen reported. So don't feel like a failure! According to my doctor (Cirangle) you are eating too many calories...you should be eating between 600-800 calories (for a woman), 70 gms of protein and drinking 64 oz of water per day. When I don't pay attention to this formula, the weight loss slows. Hope that helps!

Oh yeah, on the breakfast question...Trader Joe's has a greek yogurt in a 5oz container, that's 114 calories and 14 grams of protein. Love that. Also, there's a Special K cereal that has protein in it...3/4 of a cup of cereal has 100 calories and 10 grams of protein. These get me going in the morning!

I had the VSG April 30.  The day of surgery I was 252 and today I was 195.5, so my post surgery weight loss is 56.5 in just over 4 months.  My calories average about 600-700 a day.  The Nut told me not to worry about that as long as I get in at least 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water.  I don't eat any refined carbs or fruit.  I've been just sticking to mainly protein and add in vegetables as I can.

For breakfast, I like to mix a 4 oz FF cottage cheese snack pack with a 4 oz low fat yogurt cup together.  That gives me 17 grams of protein and 160 calories.  Or I have a cup of Fage yogurt, w/90 calories and 15 grams protein.  Or I have two ounces of ham or cheese or egg whites with FF shredded cheese sprinkled on top.

Your being hungry every three hours sounds about right to me.  I eat 4 or 5 times a day myself.

Hope this helped...
Linda
