April 2008 RNY's
Kim - I had my rny 4/23. I lost 21 pounds prior to surgery and have lost 27 pounds since my surgery. I started aerobics 5/11 and have been faithful -- only missing 1 day so far. I have been very fortunate in that I haven't had any problems yet. My energy levels are getting back to normal. getting 100g of protein in --- I really like the strawberry unjury shake mixed with crystal light lemonade. I am still on full liquid diet. Living off of 5 protein shakes a day and usually a small Wendy's chili (half for lunch and other half for supper). everyone keep up good work and we will all meet our goals!!
My wife had RNY on 4/16 and is down 26. She is not following the diet properly, but is using the treadmill 3-4 days a week, and now that the weather is nice, treading water in the pool a feww times a week. She is learning her limits, but is no tracking her protein intake at all. She still doesn't get that "full" feeling, but now knows that 'twinge' means "Put the fork down". I keep her posted with all the suggestions from this site and so far she has been thankful for the Taco Bell refried beans and lentil soup suggestions!
Hi, my surgery was on the 28th. I weighed in that day at 261 and today I'm at 234. I'd love to say it's been easy, but it really hasn't. I've really struggled with nausea and weakness. I'm still not sure I made the right decision... I guess it's too late to second guess myself though, right? I just hope things improve soon.
Ok guys read my blog. Was very frustrated with a stall. Only down 21 pounds post op today. Started at 242 preop and at 221 today. But.... had to buy pants this weekend while out of town (due to big storm while on vacation) and was down from a size 24 to a 18!!! Could have fit a 16 in the waist but the thighs were tight (no surprise!). Decided the stall was me losing inches. Everyone commented on the difference in only 5 weeks! Would love to hear where you all started and where you are now.
Had RNY April 14th - pre-surgery weighed 294 and today weighed in at 263 down 31 lbs. I stalled my 4th week for about a week and 1/2 and now I'm finally losing again. I've had problems with food getting stuck - learning how to chew and eat slower. My diet is all over the place and would like to be more focused in that area. No real problems to speak of, doing great and can't wait to see the number continue to drop
Hey everyone! I just joined this site. I had my surgery april 8, 2008 and I weighed in at 297 the day of surgery. As of this morning I weigh 259 so I am down 38lbs. I still feel like I am not losing it quick enough. But I know I need to exercise more. Still having trouble eating too quickly and the food getting stuck. I will get the hang of this sooner or later.
im not sure how to update my profile but im jennifer and i had rny april 21 and i was 240 preop and now 204 i was 266 at the beginning of my journey i had to lose 10 % of my body weight for my surgeon to do it so 62 down since thanksgiving but i hit a week now no weight loss i only get 300 or 400 calories a day so my dietician says its not enough
Ok, after reading others posts I feel better knowing others are about where I am but still bummed I have not lost more. Time to check in again you mid April RNY's. My BMI was 41 preop. Started day of surgery at 242. Scale read 213.4 today, yes to me the .4 matters when the scale moves so slowly. Almost 8 weeks out. RNY on 4/16. Please... lets share numbers again so we can put our minds at ease.
Also, how much are you exercising? I dont want a hernia and avoided any exercise other than work related walking until last weekend and started exercising in the pool. Thought it better to heal first. Have had no vomiting at all! Tolerating food well. Still need more protein.
