Anyone else's date 4/23/08??
Well, good luck to you, too!
Have you gotten your diet instructions for post-op yet? I saw my dietician on Tuesday & she gave me the diet for the first 6 weeks. Looks like all I'll be doing for the first week is timing my intakes! I'll have 3 protein drinks plus 2 "snacks" each day & I'll have to take 2 tablespoons of protein drink, then wait 15 minutes & have 2 tablespoons of water, then wait 15 minutes & repeat until the protein drink is consumed. Sounds really intense to me, but at least that's only for the first week.
Are you having many second thoughts? I think I'm pretty much over that, just trying to deal with some of the fears of the actual surgery. I'm ready to get on with the "new" life!!!!
Hugs,
Cheryl J.
Hi Cheryl,
My post-op diet is fairly simple. First the first two weeks it consists of 2-4 oz of protein hourly, with unlimited "sips" of water or other sugar free liquids. Then it is soft foods for 4 additional weeks.
I'm not having second thoughts... just really focusing on this journey. Realizing (from reading so many of these posts!) that the weight can come back if I don't truly change my eating habits. I'm sure you're ruminating over the same thoughts, and it's nice to have these boards to turn to when the doubts creep in!
Good luck this weekend. My mom is coming in from Texas to help out, and I'm more excited about that than the surgery! LOL

Yes, my rebirth is on April 23, 2008 as well. My pre opt diet consist of 800 calories, or 10 points worth of protein supplements. For example: a supplement of chilli is like 2 points, and a ready made protein shake is like 1 point. I am really tired of the chilli and all. I have really lost my appetite a little. however, I have slipped up here and there with little things not alot. I am so at peace though, I dont feel fear or anziety. I am more anzious about Nursing school this fall than this transition. I hope all goes well with you, and God send extra angels out for us on this day. What time is your surgery?
Popular day for surgery, I see! I am having duodenal switch in Grand Rapids on the 23rd. They had told me I was the first case of the day with Dr. Kemmeter, but when the hospital called.. it is for noon. That's okay though. It will give me time to get everything in order and not have to rush around to be there at 7am. I don't think I will be doing much sleeping the night before though!
Good luck to everyone!
