Need help with Food and Vitamins

I am having my RNY surgery on April 29th and trying to get all my food and vitamins together now. There is so much out there....how do I choose? Any advice on what has worked and what does not work? Thanks!! Lisa

Hi, I can recommend a very good vitamin that has everything in it that you will need as a supplement after surgery! If you go to Walgreen's.com and search for Optisource vitamin's which are specifically for post-bariatric surgery patient's. My surgeon put's all her patient's on them 2 in the AM and 2 in the PM every day. They are orange flavored chewable's that taste pretty good. You cant find them in the store and you will need to order them online. I got my shipment quickly and have been doing great on them! It's so much easier to take this one pill rather than take a seperate iron,b12,and multi-vitamin. I hope this help's and good luck with everything! Edie

Edie, can you use this post surgery right away? Will I need liquid vitamins for the first few weeks, or can I chew these until they dissolve and be OK?--Margo

Hi, My surgeon didn't say I needed to start my vitamins right after surgery and I had to order them once I got home so I didn't start taking them until I was started on soft food's. I would ask your surgeon when they want you to start them and if it's right away then ask about the chewable's right away? I'm guessing they would be fine if you chew them up real good and just drink a little water to get them down. I never did the liquid vitamin.

Hi My surgery is also the 29th of April. If you go to www.vidalady.com she has all the protein powders and vitamins and will answer all you questions. She has helped me a lot. Kathy
