Had Surgery April 2

I just discovered this site and forum and looks great with a lot of interaction and help. I had my Realize (same as Lap-Band but different brand) surgery last Wed, April 2 and going thru the tough stage. Finding it very difficult to get adequate water and liquid food down and last night the Fill Port gave me difficult time in sleeping. The port feels uncomfortable when I lie down. Of course, I'm feeling very weak but probably from lack of nutrition. I suppose this is all normal but would like to know if others have/having same experience. Thanks. Millyj

Hi there! I also had surger on the 2nd...Friday, Saturday and Sunday were my WORST days also. I felt so weak too, it seemed a huge effort to do anything, even talk. I think dehydration and lack of nutrition, as you say, really contributed to my problems. All of my incision sites were bothering me, so I slept on the reclining couch for the first few nights. I told my husband, I felt like I would never be "normal or strong" again. I'm happy to say I'm feeling better today on Tuesday. But now my stomach is growling all the time, is yours? I've been trying to update the blog on my profile, so maybe if anyone else, like us, has these problems, they'll know they're not alone. I hope you're feeling better.

I'm not going to lie...I was having MAJOR buyer's remorse Saturday and Sunday, I even cried a few times I was so miserable. But I can tell you, today, on Wednesday I don't regret it. On Saturday and Sunday I just wanted to feel O.K. again, no nausea, no dizziness, no headache. I'm happy to say, that on those qualifications...I do feel normal again. Even the muscle soreness in my abodmen is almost completely gone. I was able to lie on my SIDE last night and read in bed. Turning over in bed doesn't hurt and burn as much. I am a little scared still, wondering if it will really "work", if I'll really lose weight and if I'll be able to comply with the new way of eating, but I'm trying to have FAITH that it will. This journey is a Leap of Faith if you ask me. I think I was a little (well actually A LOT) niave that this thing was an actual "surgery". I expected to bounce back immediately. I wish someone would have told me that it really does take about a week before you're back in action. Read through the message boards...there are so many people out there willing to share their stories. That helped me alot.

Hi Ladies I too had surgery on April 2nd. Mine was to be gastric bypass laparoscopic but once in there were some complications and they had to open me up. I came home on Saturday and have to say every day since has been a struggle of some sort. I keep thinking if I have to drink 1 more ounce of water I am going to be sick but then I find the strength to do it. I haven't had a hard time getting my liquids, it just seems to be a struggle in that area due to the limitations. Right now I am on full liquids and wouldn't you know having cravings for things that are a big no no for quite a while like fish, asparagus, lobster on green salad, omg I cannot wait to be able to eat seafood. My stomach growls alot but I think it is trying to over power my brain into thinking I am hungry! hahahahaha at least that is what I keep telling myself. I had gained a total of 25 pounds before even leaving the hospital and not sure what if any or how much has come off because I refuse to get on a scale until my first follow up on 041408. My ankles, legs and thighs are swollen and I as well had to sleep sitting up until last night. I never realized just how good it felt to be able to sleep on my side. Take care and the best of luck to you both! Keep in touch, we can celebrate our milestones together!

I too had my surgery last week on april 3 and I am really going through a tough time. I find it impossible to drink even half the fluids I'm supposed too, I'm weak, starving but bloated, and very nauseas, I have not been able to sleep well either

Hey Guys, I had my surgery on April 2 also and I did not have to bad of a time with it. Some soreness but the gas pains were the worse. Right now I feel like something is stuck in my chest and it wont go down. That is so annoying. To me it feels like acid reflux but my doctor say's it's not reflux because he repaired a hernia while he was in there. He says it's still just gas. I really wi**** would hurry up and go away. I am very tired also and it does not take much for me to really feel out of it. I guess it's because I can get very little protein down. I just started on full liquids on Wednesday so I am really having to make myself drink my protein and eat my yogurt.

In response to Gay. I'm 2 days short of 2 wks out and am feeling like a human being again. Still need to bring my strength back. Can sleep on both sides now, gas is under control for the time being. Water is going down better so I'm us to 48 oz. plus. Miss chewing and can't chew gum. My doctor has me on a liquid diet for 3 wks progressing to 1 wk of mushies and then on to solid food (chopped fine) and chewed to the consistancy of baby food. So far so good. Thanks for checking Gay. When was yours and how are you doing?
