Topic: RE: Weight loss and preg after WLS
I can tell you first hand that it wasn't hard for me to get pregnant.  I had PCOS since my early teens and never thought pregnancy would be possible without some type of help re: fertility treatments etc.  Now I am 30 weeks pregnant.  I have gained 13 pounds - which has been mentally tough on me.  I am hungry as hell ALL THE TIME and it seems that I will never stop wanting to eat.  I have talked to some other people that had babies post-gastric bypass and they have said that the appetite diminishes after the baby is born.  I sure hope so because it seems like I can slowly eat and eat, and eat and eat and eat.... You get the idea... I really hope I do not put on too much more weight before the baby is here but it is what it is.  It's about the baby - not me and my selfish "self image".  I am trying to not be hard on myself about it.  Anyway - the people that I have spoken with say that their excess weight fell right off - AND then some after the baby was born.  I hope that is the same case with me because I am going to crack down on myself hard after he's here.

This is such exciting news and Don't give up on pannislectomy for the tummy just besure to document rashes and back pain for 6 mos. Most insurences will turn u down and hoping u will go away. I  hope u r going to a surgeon that really works hard on getting the surgery approved for the TT. If you still not getting anywhere with your insurence they perhaps look at other insurences during open enrollment. What I did and was the best thing i ever did, I am sooooooooooooo excited for you, To me this is where the fun begins with wls the  plastic surgery restoring our beauty and scars of obesity, I love my new tummy

Topic: Plastic Surgery Journey
Hi A-Teamers!!

Well  on Feb. 12th my journey with plastic surgery begins.  I  will be having an arm lift on that day.
I started out wanting to get a breast lift and tummy tuck first but, my surgeons office and my  insurance company are trying to work out an approval.  So in the mean time I am going to have my arms done.  I am very nervous but I  have complete faith in the doctor. It's just the after care that worries me.  I  am traveling 250 miles to have this surgery and I will be staying at my son's house for the first week.  My daughter in law is not the best housekeeper and  I worry about infection and not getting enough rest.  So,  I am  taking my own linens, I have to take only button front tops (no over the head tops for a couple of weeks).  I have upped my protein and will take a good supply with me.  My arms are what bother me the most. I have an apron belly but clothes hide is pretty good.  So if insurance doesn't approve additional surgery I will not be able to afford it on my own. I think I can live with the rest of the loose skin.  It certainly is better than weighing 300lbs.  And I am a lot more healthy now.  That was the main reason for having WLS.
Well I just wanted to share.
Take care everyone.

Joni

Pannislectomy is basically the removal of excess skin
Abdominalplasty is tighting of the muscles with removal of abdominal skin. Here is where it gets tricky and depends on your doc, I had a pannislectomy to remove 13 plus pounds of skin and also had a hernia repair to fix the hole which also takes care of the tighting of the abdominal wall muscles at the same time. Seems all docs what to go the route of abdominalplasty because they r in bussines to make money and with insurence they will get paid at a discount rate, Always keep in mind 99% of the docs are in the plastic bussiness to make u look the best and lets face it the anchor cut is not usually used to do a pannislectomy and that can  give u a more define waist line than before and alot depends if u even had a waist going in, Take a look at my pics I had a pannislectomy and I paid 2 k for out of network for the surgery that was covered by my doc , I do not feel my doc was ripping me off and did the best possible job, He also repaired my hernia which my insurence covers in network. I also want a boob Job and I was thinking how much can i get done. I will have to go to a plastic surgeon for that but i want my doc I went to my weight loss surgeon to have my pannislectomy and I think he did a amazing job, I feel being board  certified doc in plastics  means not a whole lot   for a tummy area. My surgeon area is abdomial u know hernia gall bladder appendix weight loss surgery and he open and closes the abdominal  area all the time and I trust him 100% and he has operated on me 3 times and has done this amazing job closing me, I had emergency appendectomy when I was 12 and stab wounds from violent attack and I had these keloids which was horrible and ugly and my doc was able to remove the ugly scars and left me with a thin scar line that will fade and right now  hardly seen in some areas already. I am so shocked how well I am healing with my 36 inch cut , U can see my pics and I am still healing and I am getting a waist and I had a huge pannis more than most people. Beware of sales job when u got to plastic docs they are in bussines to make u look like barbie not a regular woman. My doc pulled up my mons area and he did not charge me for that but most plastic docs will charge you for that as well. My doc takes pride in making his  WLS pts look good after weight loss , I think my doc is the except  to most docs. He is not only my doc and partner in my weight loss Journey but feel he is a friend , cheerleader and lifestyle coach. He sees our pain and wants to do something for us. I call him mother Teresa of weight loss. LOL

I have received  approval from my insurance company stating they will pay for me to have a Panniculectomy done. When I went in for my consult to see the plastic surgeon he explained to me about a Adominoplasty. Can someone lease tell me what is the difference between the two surgeries please?
