Hi Danielle, At my 1 year appt my surgeon instructed me to GAIN 15 - 20 pounds because that is what I am below my ideal weight. I have yet to gain anything, rather on purpose, but I have maintained by adding protein shots. I make jello with a 42g protein shot from GNC, separate into 4 1/2cup servings and have 2 a day. I tried adding protein shakes but they fill me up so much so that I can't eat my normal meals. I currently eat about 1000 calories a day. According to the BMR calculator I just calculated I should be eating 1800 ~ there is NO WAY I'm putting that many calories in my body. It's scary being under-weight but it's a very difficult head game to win. Good luck!!

Hi Inky... thanks for these links. It says here for me to maintain the weight I'm at I have to eat 2127 calories a day! I know I'm barely eating above 1200. I havn't lost anything to speak of in months.... I've tried upping my calories to 1400 and gained 5 lbs. I have no idea what to do really. I am pretty happy with where I am at, but I don't want to cut myself short either. I am 5' 9" and weigh 210 I'm still obese, even after RNY. I am so discouraged. I track my food at daily plate and still go protein first. I have been stuck at 210 for so long now I'm wondering if this is it. I will go down to 205 and then up to 215 and then back down to 207 and then TOTM comes and it's up to 220 and then back down to 210. Seriously.. this is the pattern everymonth. anyone else here relate? -Shakeira

Shar & A-Team, Great news about your daughter! And when did you say she would be back in the states? This week was a GREAT WEEK 4 me! I think I am finally starting to loose again. I have teetered around with the last 9 pounds for about 5 (FIVE) months! Well, it has been a good 3 weeks for me. I am exercising more now. I have noticed I can eat more. I am at about 3/4 to 1 cup of food at a time. Is that about what everyone else is eating? Just wondering. DOS 289 Last week 182 Today 179 OMG Did you hear me 179!!!! This week I lost 3 pounds!!!! I am so excited! It must be the exercise and I am now getting about 80 - 100 protein a day and over 100 oz of liquid. Whatever it is I am not changing a thing! Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend! Rhonda

Good Morning Everyone, I am holding steady...no loss this week. But I have increased my exercise. My sons have Wii and I just got the new Wii Fit that they came out with on Wednesday. It has Yoga, strength training, aerobic and balance exercises. So you are getting a workout and it is fun. Maybe next week, I will be able to post a lost. Highest: 347 Today: 165 Total loss of 182lbs, gone forever!!!

Hi Danielle, First off please don't be afraid to post anything here - we all struggle with something one way or another and the support we get on the A-team forum is PRICELESS to me!! Your situation is one I fear very much. Have you had your Basal Metabolic Rate calculated? My surgeon's office did the 10-minute breathing test one for me on Monday and found my BMR was around 1605, and the print out also told me how many calories I need to maintain my current weight as well as what to adjust it to for continued weight loss (in my case, 1100 per day). If you don't have access to a test like this (I think some nutritionists do it too) My figure was identical to what my online result was (1600.55) from this site, so you could try this first: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ That is the calories your body burns if you did nothing but basically sit in a chair all day and breath and have your heart beating. You can use this to then calculate what you need to intake to maintain your weight here: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/ You are wise to do this with good protein sources. I would say adding X calories in protein drinks might be a good start. Will you need to have your gallbladder out? It's an unfortunate common problem for us. A few years ago I think more surgeons just took it out when they did the RNY, but now my surgeon, for example, prefers to have you take URSO for six months after surgery. I hope that this helps you find a better balance and please, keep posting! hugs, Inky

I am so glad your daughter is having a great time and all is well. Like I said, what a great opportunity!! As for me, well, this was a peculiar week - i lost FOUR pounds. Two overnight and then half pound more over two days and another pound this morning - OH MY GOSH!! I haven't done a damn thing differently - except adjust my caloric intake to 1100 on average per my surgeon's suggestion on Monday - and I lost 2 pounds Monday night BEFORE making that change. I am engraving it on my forehead, backwards so I can see it in a mirror - STICK TO YOUR PROGRAM WHEN YOU HIT A STALL!! DOS - 322 Surgery - 309 Last week - 199 Today - 195 ( - 4 POUNDS) 127 down and 45 to go (my surgeon also re-adjusted my goal weight to 150 from 140). Woohoo! Inky

Really need some help, I've been afraid to post this because I know some people are struggling to still lose weight, but I can't seem to get mine to stop and it is starting to scare me. I even went so far as to start adding fatty foods like bacon, pizza, and foods high in calories. Only to cause other problems, last week I had severe pains that put me in the hospital, they found out I now have gall stones. Currently I am eating 4 meals a day and 2 snacks, do you have any food suggestions that are high in calories, but low in fat. What is your daily food intake? How many calories are you up to? Do you still drink protien drinks? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know some of my problem is I have not been able to work out in a couple of a months, so I've lost a lot of muscle mass in my upper body. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help. Danielle
