Good morning Cindy and Ateamers. Thanks for starting this for me. I didn't have to work this morning so I was able to actually sleep a bit. It felt so good. We have had some rain, ot much. How is the flooding by you? A few years a go I had hail damage and I got all new siding and a roof, paid by insurance. I was so happy to change the color of my siding. Thank goodness for Mother Nature, No loss this week, but I have been eatig the wrong things. Last night I even had a piece of cheesecake at a party. Yum, it was so good and I dealt with it, no guilt, and then got on with it I am OK with doing that, learning moderation and not beating myself up. DOS 345 Today 198 Total loss: 147 pounds Shar

Well, I hope that Shar is okay. I guess I got used to getting up on Sunday's and she would already have this started. So I will start it for her today. I hope you all had a great week. We have had a series of bad storms here in the midwest. Friday night we had a storm with golf ball sized hail and 90 mph winds. Got significant damage to our house. Probably going to need a new roof, new screens because the hail went right thru them, a few broken windows and the siding on 2 sides of our house is totally filled holes now. We got a lot of damage but thankful that we are alive. A pair of teenagers from Co Bluffs were killed in the storm when a large tree split in half and crushed the car they were sitting in. SO sad, please pray for the families of these 2 young men. Well here are my stats: Highest: 276 DOS: 263 Last week : 130 This week: 129 Down 1 lb this week. Down a total of 147 lbs! Have a great week Cindy

I would talk to your nutritionist for the best way to bulk up, but you definitely need to add more calories. I agree that a high protein/high calorie drink would be a good way to start. GNC has many types that would be helpful. Check this Base Metabolic Rate calculator and find out your base rate (the calories you burn daily just sitting and not moving) and then strive for that figure to start with. 1000 calories a day is just not enough for you at this point and your body is eating itself up. I know you aren't hungry, heck, I still don't get hungry but remember way back in the beginning when we had to weigh and measure our food and eat when we didn't feel like it to get the protein in, well, you may have to do the same thing now, eat even when you don't want to so you can add a few hundred more calories in a day. http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ Good luck and please let us know how you're doing. try muscle milk protien it is high calorie and I think fat too. You can get the protien in with more calories and maybe you pouch will be more tolrable. I think they make shcakes for bulking up with more calories as well. I def don't have that problem being I am still 236. dee

Topic: PCP running test
Well, I have something going on with me. When I went for my one year post op appointment with my surgeon, he said that my bilirubin test came back slightly elevated. He advised me to follow up with my PCP. So a few weeks ago I went in to see her and she said well lets run the test again because ususally it is an isolated incident. So she ran it again and it came back elevated again. She is completely dumb founded by this because I no longer have my gall bladder and I am not showing any of the typical symptoms of someone whos bilirubin is elevated. So she said lets run some more blood test along with an ultrasound to find out what is going on. I am trying not to be nervous about this, but she is testing me for everything from Hepetitis to HIV. I work in a dental office and there has been times in the past that I have stuck myself with an instrument. I have been tested for those then but it has been well over 5 years. So I don't know what is going with me. I go for my ultrasound on Monday and I had my blood work done on Wednesday (7 vials of blood). I don't go back to see her for the results until the middle of July. It is going to be hard to wait that long to see what is going on.

Is anyone else below goal and struggling to maintain? I can't seem to make it work. I was told about 10 pound ago to gain 10 - 15 pounds. I've added calories, just not enough I guess, and I keep losing. I'm at 118.4 as of this morning...119.0 this evening. I'm eating 1000 calories but I can't seem to maintain and I'm not hungry enough to eat more. I'm able to take in about 2/3 of a cup of food at a sitting. I don't eat until lunch time because my pounch seems to get really finicky before then. Or, if I eat a snack or do a protein drink mid-morning I'm not hungry at lunch. I've had a really rough week with a lot of pain in my left side. An upper and lower GI was done and nothing was found. I went back through my food journals and notice the only thing different was the addition of cottage cheese and grape tomatoes at lunch. I cut them out and am starting to slowly improve. I also re-added a stool softner into my daily dose of supplements. Seems to be helping. I'm very active and can't stand not moving so I tend to be in constant motion. What do I do??? Thank you.

Topic: Fatty liver, the sequel
I posted several days ago asking if any of you all had been diagnosed with a fatty liver, and what the ramifications were, as my doctor said that my blood work came back indicating such. Evidently, from your replies and from my research, this is common with WLS patients, and stems from the rapid weight loss (not to mention the fact that we likely have fatty livers from being fat, or why would doctors ask us to go on liquid diets before the surgery so the liver won't be so heavy?) ANYWAY, long story short, I had an ultrasound Monday and a second blood test today. Turns out the liver is not so fat, and my liver blood work improved. I was on Protonix which can skew liver test results, so the doctor had taken me off of that. You might ask your doctor about it if you're on Protonix and your liver tests come back abnormal. Anyway, thanks for the support and reassurance. Also, a ??? of sorts - he re-checked my cholesterol this morning. A month ago it was 222 and today it was 177 (HDL a month ago was 69, so I'm not that worried.) A month ago it was a fasting blood test; today I'd had 3/4 of an egg McMuffin for breakfast (with 1/2 of the English muffin - I don't eat the whole thing). Granted, of all the breakfast sandwiches an Egg McMuffin is relatively lowest in fat, but still. Go figure! I'm thinking maybe next time instead of fasting I'll have an Egg McMuffin and just not tell him, see what happens. (Not really...but I'd love to...) Also, gang, wish me luck. I'm running in a officially sanctioned, medal-producing half-marathon tomorrow morning. Say a little prayer around 6 a.m. Central Time for your fellow A-teamer Marcia. I'll report on it afterwards, if I survive.
