I heard the carbonation gets hot and expands in your stomach not sure if that is true or not. Soda is the one thing I have not touch and really don't miss. Empty calories and I eat enough calories without adding more. Diet thoug is zero so oh who knows lol

I am a regular. Lisa would say I am an overachiever since I started at 282lbs made my goal of 165lbs for 5'10" and now weigh 159lbs which is below goal. I love that I can wear a size 6-in fact I love that more than any food I can think of right now(just to show how much my tool has changed my thinking.)
This forum helps keep me accountible. I know I have access to those who are in the same stage as me when I have questions. I attend post op classes regularly but since they are once a month there is a lot that can happen in between.
I know I have changed. This has been a year of turmoil. Some of my relationships have survived and some have not. But, I am so much better off.
As for being tired-I have had problems with that. I had to switch my supplements to include bigger doses of B-complex with B-12. The B-12 alone was not enough. The other thing is that the changes in our hormones can affect our sleep patterns. YOu might have trouble sleeping or it might be that you do not get into a deep enough sleep to get refreshed. I bit the bullet and started takiing Lunesta so I could sleep. It helps a lot.
Hang in tough A team....

I have no idea. I guess I was under the impression that we should never have it but I know alot of people who do. I am choosing to keep it out of my diet forever....if I can

My doctor said to stay away from anything carbonated. It may stretch your new stomach.

Hey Lisa,
I'll admit that I lurk... Half the time when I want to respond I am sidetracked with stuff going on at work or home and end up forgetting... This surgery has been life-saving and life-affirming. I am now just under 200 pounds finally - my highest was 350+. I remember at some points I was afraid to weigh myself. For all I know I could have been somewhere up in the 360's (or beyond).

My surgeon said that there was nothing at all wrong with soda. I've been having it (diet - sparingly) since my first month out!

Ok, I'm a lurker too. I seem to read about what's going on and never post.
I had my surgery April 30, 2007. My surgery date weight was 345 lbs. As of today, I weight 168 lbs. My doctor says that at 6'1" tall, I can safely get to 165 lbs., but I would like to get down to 150. We'll see what happens.
Although I have lost the weight, I can't say that the loss has really changed my life for the better. To tell you the truth, I had more engery when I was heavier. Now I am tired all the time, to the point where I wake up tired and can't wait to get back in bed at the end of the day.
If any one has any ideas why I am so tired all the time and what I can do to change it, please let me know. My doctor has no idea why I am so tired. I take all my vitamins and get plenty of protin.
In addition to being tired all the time, my mind still can't get around the fact that I am smaller. I went from a size 30/32 to a size 10/12 and I still feel like I am 30/32 and 345 lbs. Anyone else feel like this?
