Hi, Tiffany. Yes, I'm the one training for a marathon. People are still keeling over - well, ok, nobody's died yet - to hear that old (formerly fat) Marcia is doing that. (My older younger brother said "Marcia???? RUN???? Who are you and what have you done with my sister????) Running has never been my thing either, but actually - it's getting easier. What I've done is join a "couch potato" marathon training group here in Jackson. We started out small - walking one mile. Then the next week we did 1 1/2 miles, then 2, et****il now we're walking/running 18 miles next weekend. I have a couple of suggestions for you. The first is to go to the Exercise and Fitness forum on this web site. There you will find a group of WLS patients who are doing what I'm doing, some who have been doing it much longer than I have, who can give you good solid advice. The other is to try to find such a group in your area if you can. They give you support and teach you how to do it, then at the end you run in whatever your group is training for. There are also groups, like the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, who make money for charitable causes while learning by taking pledges from people (so much money per mile, betting on whether or not you'll finish, whatever). Anyway, I'm getting a lot out of it, and now that I've said something about it on this forum, I'm committed. The reason I did it was to have a goal. I've met my weight loss goal, more or less, so I had to have something else to work towards, or I'd be sitting around on my behind bored, doing nothing, and getting fat again. And however I'm going to do it, THAT is never going to happen again. The other reason I did it is because my baby brother didn't think I should or could do it, which, when you think about it, is a much greater motivation than anything else. AND I can eat whatever I want (within reason, of course), and not gain weight. Carbs still cause me grief, so I've had to make adjustments there. (Carbo loading? How many of us can get in a bowl of spaghetti? I still can't eat that much of anything, and noodles don't sit well in my stomach if I go overboard.) But that's why I've gone to that fitness forum - they can tell me what I can try to eat to get the energy. Look into it. It's actually kind of fun. Keep me posted. Marcia

Hiya A Team. I am still working on maintenance. Seem to have stabilized at 160lbs. I am trying to balance calories with nutrition. Craving for refined carbs will always be with me. A hard week for me this week but I am learning to deal. My son's humvee hit an IED in Afghanistan. He is okay-concussion and burns but nothing serious-thank god. I try to look at this year as training for my real life which does not turn to food in times of stress. It is a lot of work....

Hola Shar, A good week for me, some progress in my physical therapy for my shoulder and that's making me happy. As for weight, I went up usual two pound boogie during Aunty Flow's visit this week, but am happy to find myself just floating around 187.5-188 (on my balance beam scale), so I will say I stayed the same at 188 ;) Highest - 322 DOS - 309 Today 188 (134 yucky pounds of fat gone for good!) My surgeon's plan said to never have it again, and I'm fine with that. I gave it up a couple years before surgery, and never did like anything but Diet Dr. Pepper anyway. Now sweet drinks (crystal light and stuff like that) just make me gag. I do have a big iced tea vice though - and my big-A$$ mug of coffee, haha. In my opinion and for my .02, I don't think there is any value at all in drinking diet sodas in general. Inky
