I have added your daughter to our church prayer chain and I will be in prayer for her all day tomorrow as she undergoes this delicate surgery. You & your daughter are in my thoughts & prayers. Sending you lots of love & hugs.
Topic: RE: Soda....
Kimberly,
My surgeon told me that the whole concept of soda expanding your new stomach was a flat out myth. Gather what you like from this information and do what you are comfortable with. I would be more afraid of slowly eating carbs or sugar on a constant basis than a little bit of diet soda here and there.

Lisa,
I know it's scarey.but open heart surgery today is like a tonsilectomy years ago, I am sure you have the best surgeons for her. We all love you and are praying for you. Please take good care of yourself and check in as much as possible.

As many of you know my 19 year old daughter suffered a stroke last sunday and has been in Ucla medical center ICU They found out the cause of her stroke was clots from her central line and cross over (hole called a patent foramen ovalle PFO) heart and up to her carrotid artery.Tommorrow they are doing open heart surgery to repair her heart that has allowed blood clots to go threw her heart and up cartoid artery
They will put her on heart bypass and life support to do the repair and to remove the clots from her heart. and from the vena cava.
Thanks A team for all your support , kind words and prayers
Lisa

Topic: RE: Sunday Weigh In
I am holding firm at 188 today. I was up 4 pounds during the week (oh how I hate you Aunt Flo) but it went away like I knew it would (whew!).
It's amazing now to notice "just 4 pounds" in my clothes. I vowed after surgery I would never wear elastic banded skirts or pants again and boy, does that make a difference. You really notice any gain right away - I hope that helps me stay on the straight and narrow as goal approaches.

Topic: RE: Tired and Starving
I can't help with the hunger problem other than maybe you want to check your calorie intake and see if you are eating enough and maybe get some things to snack on that will help fill you up. I eat a ton of raw carrots and little things like that because I am a compulsive snacker. I would recommend going in and getting your iron levels checked. I know I am anemic and when my iron levels are low I am completely run down and want to sleep all the time regardless of how much sleep I had the night before. I was talking to a friend the other day and she said the farther away from her surgery date she gets it seems the lower her iron is. She went to the doctor and her Iron levels were at 6 and normal is around 14 I believe. It's and easy test and might be a good thing to check.
