It's one of those foods that a "catch 22"...it's good as a filling munchie but it's high in carbs and swells (hence the filling). I have had a couple pieces over the course of the past year...the most being one of those 100 calorie bags of Smartfood and it went down okay but got to my pouch and OUCH. I avoid it even though I LOVE POPCORN, espcially the Kettle Corn. But...if you really want to know ask your Nut. or surgeon what they feel about it.

Topic: Is this a stage thing or just me???
I apologize if this gets kind of long but I just am having a really hard time right now. I feel so out of control. I walk around the kitchen going from cabinet to cabinet to fridge to freezer looking for things to eat. Take a bite of this, a piece of this and another bite of this. Nothing seems to be satisfying ~ even protein bars and the edamame I've been addicted to. I eat my snacks and meals but don't enjoy anything! I want chocolate and have put M&M's and a Hershey's kiss in my mouth but spit them out because they are NASTY!! I've made some "fluff" and find myself picking at it all day. I've also made jello and pudding and just can't find anything that fills me up. I eat fish, chicken and/or eggs and just keep going. My pouch doesn't seem to feel full. I'm going through a huge amount of stress and am sure this is part of it...that emotional eating thing and I know I shouldn't over-eat so I've taken to nibbling. Any suggestions??? I'm struggling to not gain even though I've been told I need to. I want to maintain ~ I like 120 would like to get back to 118 - would be amazing to see 115!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: Tonsillectomy... and I'm scared!
I'm getting my tonsils out this Friday. All your thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated. I've needed to do this for nearly 6 years now... and I guess now is as good a time as any. I hear the recovery is horrible and can last for up to 2 weeks to 20 days. My hubby is getting 10 days off. That is more then he had with my RNY. He only took 4 days off for my RNY and I was up and about very well after that. I don't expect to bounce back as well this time. I'm NOT looking forward to this. My tonsils are really bad and are infected about 85% of the time. I'm just hoping I can get the proper pain meds for me. I told the surgeon I have had gastric bypass and can not have any NSAIDs. He didn't seem to like that and was ignorant as to why I can't. I sure hope he has a better alternative to them for me. I DO NOT want to fight this pain alone. I've spent some hours reading up on Adult tonsillectomies and found that it's not a easy or fun thing to go through... Anyways.. I know you all have your own stuff you are going through, but I just wanted to post and let you know what's going on. Maybe you could offer some advice? Good news.. the 5 day pouch test that everyone says is a miracle, will be no issue for me during this time. I can't have anything solid for over 2 weeks. Just liquid and mushys... been there done that and got the T-shirt! Maybe I will be able to break my stall? Someone pass me my whey gourmet peanut butter chocolate protein shake... and lots and lots of oxycotin laced ice-chips! Thanks again! -Shakeira

My experience with it was a little bit different - I tried some, not very much, and it sat like a lump in my stomach, so I've avoided it (as much as I love popcorn). Nothing got stuck or anything; it just for me wasn't a very pleasant feeling. I guess based on the other answers it wouldn't hurt to try it to see what it does to you. Don't eat too much at a time, though. Marcia

I LOVE popcorn and was worried after the surgery that I'd never be able to eat it again. But it's never been a problem for me. Of course I eat a lot less of it then I use to... now I order a small popcorn instead of a huge bucket when I go to the movies and sometimes I can't even finish the small bag.

I eat but usually only if I go to the movies, which isn't that often. I have never had a problem with it.
