Help please...back to basics....food ideas and support
I had my surgery (bypass not band) April 19th 2007, I donot in any way regret it and would do it again in a heart beat, im 26 now with one chold and want to have 1 more one day in a year or 2 but want to get to my goal weight first. I weigh about 175 and i retain water bad so i take water pills, if i got a few days without it i blow up bad. None the less i have noticed i am grazing alot more then usual, im not hungry moreless just old habbits?? not sure. I need help with food ideas, i think im getting board with my own, and i need to get back to basics, i know i need to work my tool i dont get hungry and my stomach doesnt growl and i fill up easily but i know im not getting enough protein in, can someone give me food ideas and suggestions? id like to loose 35 to 40 more pounds. and id like to do this before summer
I also had my RNY in 2007. When I get the urge to graze, I drink a protein shot. I notice that when I get enough protein in I don't graze. I also found some GenSoy chips that aren't too bad. They have protein in them and I don't feel guilty eating them as a snack. I also found that if I don't keep busy I want to snack more. So when I get that urge I try to focus on something else. My highest weight was 292 and today I weigh 156. I am 61 and I don't regret having this surgery either. I recommend it to all my overweight friends. Jan
Protein is the key for me also. If I just have carbs, I tend to keep reaching for them over and over. I also eat something every 2-3 hrs. I snack on nuts, fruit, yogurt, etc. I also noticed that my body needed some more grains, so I make a batch of oatmeal for midmorning and then heat up the leftovers for the next two days-add a little milk to loosen and it is good. I start each day with a protein shake-this is not negotiable. That way I start my day with 34 grams of protein and I am off to a good start.
I also make my desserts with a lot of protein. Chocloate cream pie, made with skim milk, add extra 1/2 cup of NF dry milk and it is very creamy. The cream is a mix of FF cream cheese and SF whipped topping. How can I feel guilty about that??
I have been at goal now for 9 months and have no problem maintaining. I actually went below goal. LOVE LOVE LOVE my surgery. I do have problems with people who do not have it when they are over 100lbs overweight, have high blood pressure and sleep with a machine on their face due to sleep apnea. I can not figure out why they are afraid to get into the game of life. I do accept that this is always a personal choice but don't be complaining when there are alternatives-I know I'm not being kind but as you can tell-this gets to me....
Biggest thing is to find something you love to do. This brings a sense of calm and bliss that makes the mind and body happy.
The tool still works. YOU can do it. I find when I fall off the wagon and then get back on that it seems to shock my body into giving up a few pounds.
