Weird... I feel SOOOO FAT!
Okay, I have been maintaining 135 pounds for about 4 or 5 months now and just the other day I noticed I gained 3 pounds. So I immediately cut back on my carbs and started taking in more protein. I will admit sometimes I get sloppy and eat a bit too many carbs. However, that being said it's usually "good" carbs such as whole wheat or whole grain breads... and I don't have much. But I noticed I started having toast with breakfast and then a sandwich for lunch and maybe even a slice of bread with dinner. Yikes! A big NO NO.... thus the reason for 3 pound weight gain. The problem is... just gaining those 3 pounds has made me feel like a tubalard! I feel HUGE and for some reason my tummy looks really fat. I swear I look like I'm 6 months pregnant. What is up with that?? I mean I'm only 138 and I've been there before. Why do I feel and look sooooo FAT???? Plus, I will admit I'm totally freaking out because this is the first time I've gained weight. All my fears of gaining all my weight back have gripped me. I'm like "oh no, it's happening... I knew it would be too good to be true". My skinny days are over and I'm not going to be able to lose these 3 pounds. It's funny how 3 pounds feels like 30 to me. I am really frantic about all this. Anyone else go through this? If so, how did you handle it?

Hi Lisa,
I feel exactly the same way! I have found that carbs are the worst thing! They make me feel bloated too. The other thing is if I don't drink enough water then I start holding water. I can gain 2lbs in one day if I don't drink enough and pee a lot.
Also, like you my biggest fear is gaining the weight back. I am always surrounded by people telling me stories about they know so and so and she gained all of her weight back. This is not an option. The A-team board is always here to give wonderful support.
Good Luck and keep the faith.

I have the same reaction and the same fear. I've gained about 5 pounds myself - I think when I was training for the Marathon I ate more than I should have, so I have work to do. And yes, I feel like a lard bucket. The waist of my pants are a little tight. I do NOT want to regain the weight either, so am trying to cut back again. I get in enough protein, but know that I have to curb the carb intake.
Don't you love the way people take absolute delight in telling you about people that they know (or more like their niece's friend's church buddy's uncle's best friend knows about) who've had the surgery and regained it all? It's like they are sitting there waiting for you to fail!!!! Ah HAH! I KNEW IT!!!! She couldn't keep the weight off! It was just a matter of time!!!
Arrrrggggghhhhhh.
Those 5 pounds feel like 50 now. I'm going to get them back off again. I will NOT be one of those people *****gain the weight.
So, yes, I'm with you.

Well the honey moon is over and it is now pure self control and tools and trick of the trade to keep us from not gaining weight. And even harder to even lose more.
I agree with u marcia I hate being under a microscope and people comming up telling u about others who had wls gained weight after it and u r so right like they expect us to fail. I must admit I use a laxative to kinda get things moving along when i feel so bloated and fat iit helps things moving on I hit 189 a few times and I start to panic and keeps me in line i never will be 190 again if i have anthing to do with it. I star****ch biggest loser to inspire me to keep going or watch the movie rockie or legally blonde to help me get going or call my person trainer and panic lol but it is that I am doing something and the fact i show up here with my a team and true confession really hold me accountiable like I said earlier IF I START GAINING WEIGHT LIKE CRAZY U ALL HAVE MY PERMISSION TO GET ON MY CASE AND TELL ME GET BACK ON TASK I WORKED TO DAMN HARD TO BE BE MORBID OBESE AGAIN!!!!!!!!
I still feel very fat and this scares me I have to see my self as 186 not 295 I see the pics and see it that way but i look at my stomach and it still seems as big I really hope and pray that the tummy tuck will convience me I am not fat anymore. I told my self I will hit goal after my tummy tuck Losing the gut i****ting goal no matter what the scales says. So i figured what EVER I WEIGH ON April 1 2009 IS MY GOAL WEIGHT . April 1 is the day I decided to no longer be a fool about my weight and I started my weight loss journey . April 18 is my surgery date and the day I took back my life.
My dietician said that u can slowly up your calories and not cause a sudden weight gain by eating more tiny meals one day less the next and keep on that cycle to help jump start your metabolism and exercise while r doing that and I did that and it has worked for me I am eating 1500 calories now and slowly losing but she said need to up the calories to keep to lose weight or u hit starvation mode and poof u gain like 5 pounds over night rapid weight gain is a sign of starvation mode and I found the more tiny meals I ate the weight comes off.

It's a weird thing for sure! I have put on weight as well and I'm in the process of loosing has really thrown my mind around. I have not gained enough to go up a size or anything, and yet I feel soooo fat!! I was walking around today feeling very insecure about how I look.
I remember these familiar feelings.. I was like this 24/7 for years before WLS. I was marveling how I can feel even more crummy about my appearance then I did when I was 335lbs.
Again, the only way I know to deal with this is to concentrate on my health and not the scale.
I'm back to recording all my food and drinking 80 oz of water a day. And I'm feeling a lot healthier!
I hope it helps to know your not alone!

Oh wow, that would be a tough one to wrap your head around. How's the pregnancy going? You feeling ok and gaining the right amount of weight? The hard part will come after the baby. But if you breast feed that will give you an advantage on losing weight. YOu burn more calories while nursing... which helps you lose those baby pounds. How many weeks are you? You need to give us regular updates on how you're doing and maybe even post some belly pics. I love seeing pregnant bellies! Take care.
My gf daughter got pregnant 1 year post gastric by pass and she was so scared and worried and all turned out beauifull she had a 8 lb baby boy healthy and she lost all the weight and then some real quick like and she looks simply amazing. She hit her program post delivery protien water and low carb and the weight just flew off. Well e remember even if u gain weight(which does not sound like this is your case) and does not come off u still have what they call the rose option whick tightens your pouch up again. All is not lost. How do u think u r doing keep us posted etc. Babies are wonderful, even the unexpected ones When are you due? We are here for you remember that, A team we are having a baby!!! Sorry my grandma mode took over.
