Hi Inky... thanks for these links. It says here for me to maintain the weight I'm at I have to eat 2127 calories a day! I know I'm barely eating above 1200. I havn't lost anything to speak of in months.... I've tried upping my calories to 1400 and gained 5 lbs. I have no idea what to do really. I am pretty happy with where I am at, but I don't want to cut myself short either. I am 5' 9" and weigh 210 I'm still obese, even after RNY. I am so discouraged. I track my food at daily plate and still go protein first. I have been stuck at 210 for so long now I'm wondering if this is it. I will go down to 205 and then up to 215 and then back down to 207 and then TOTM comes and it's up to 220 and then back down to 210. Seriously.. this is the pattern everymonth. anyone else here relate? -Shakeira

I am so with you on the same page .. on this.. No way am i eating 2000 plus calories and yet i am stuck as well I know I am not a Rny but a weight loss is weight loss and a stall is a stall no matter what surgery u had. I did my blood work and it is awesome as far as labs. No thyroid issues, I am sick of exercise and I eat protein first.. can u see why diet failed us? I just hate the TOTM UP DOWN . TRUELY we have a metabolic issues realted to obesity and that factor is something we cannot change. So little is written on our genes to be heavy.. what r we doing wrong? I so much realte with u.. I felt and surely will feel the same way again. I don't understand how weeks and months of lower than your BMR intake can not result in a loss, but my surgeon did say that our bodies want rest and during that time they re-sculpture. That's why we lose inches and not pounds during what we consider stalls. Have you measured? Are you wearing a smaller size even though the scale hasn't budged? I didn't move and/or went up and down the same 2-3 pounds during the 2 months I stalled but I lost a pants size. My surgeon did lower me from 1200 to 1100, but that has been the only change I made this week, by eliminating a snack. I am going to measure myself today and every month thereafter even if i am not losing - I hope this will help me stay focused over the next year. I know it's not much help, but stick to your program, the weight will come off again, we aren't done, I promise you that. Inky

I'll tell you what... I don't think that BMR calculators apply to us anymore (and may not for several years until our bodies stabilize). My BMR to maintain according to those websites was ~2300 (I am 5'8ish, close to 5'9). I was eating between 1500-1800/day and maintaining, then GAINING (I went up 5 lbs). I had my BMR measured and it was actually around 1180. When you lose weight as quickly as we have it lowers your metabolism. We are not regular people. Even if you workout your metabolism is bound to decrease (I workout 4x per week, intensely). I went back to low fat, protein first, low carb, avoiding sugar and I have finally started losing again (8 pounds in about 4 weeks). Good luck.
