U know MOST OF U PEOPLE R JUST TO SKINNY FOR ME lol
I was looking at alot of your profiles and WOW u all look so skinny .. I was thinking I should be 139 AND I saw a few of u in the 160 RANGE and I was thinking where in world u gonna lose more weight? U r so skinny people .. so i am thinking my goal of 139 is to low for me .. My doc never gave me a goal weight because for everyone it will be different he said and I know I am getting very very buff and my arms are very cut I am thinking 160 I am gonna be happy LOL I am gonna be very muscualr and my legs r showing it just my tummy has yet to catch up with the game plan .. He told me my lap band and RnY Surgery takes off 70% of the excess weight the rest comes from what we do . He told me I have almost reached what the surgery was designed to do as far as losing weight the 30% of the excess weight will be up to me this surgery is not cure all to be thin and make me normal weight. So time to bring out the calculator and figure out what is 70% of excess weight loss is.. the rest of the weight loss is comming from all our HARD efforts.. and I think most of us are just hoping it was a cure all for 100% for weight loss. Life is just not that simple.. darn it LOL Go back and read the the stats for surgery weight loss. I think for me I FORGOT 70% EXCESS WEIGHT CLAUSE

Lisa,
I agree with you, lol. My surgeon has my goal weight at 140 (I am 5'4") and I think he's insane, and yes, I told him so. First he had me at goal of 135, 140 was his COMPROMISE. But he said it would take me at least 2 years to reach that goal.
At 12 months out I am just shy of losing 70% (by 2 pounds), so I am on target for OH's calculator here:

My one year appt is on 5/19 and I am curious to see if my goal weight stays the same. Today I was taken off my blood pressure med completely, so if I never lost another pound, my surgery was still a resounding success, because my BP was the primary reason I had it.
We just need to keep at it now that the honeymoon is over

My honey moon is over at 24 months LOL lap banders take 2 years to reach goal. but that is ok as long as I continue to no longer be a diabetic the surgery is a sucess already .. I just wish I could get below 200 I am stuck at 205 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr getting old week after week after week think I am on 20 week platue AGAIN but I do go in for fill may 20. I had a dream I was 198 got up this am and I was 205 ugh.. DARN IT LOL
Doesn't it feel good to be off meds Inky?

I had always set a goal of 165. This put me into the 'normal range" for my BMI. At my 6month appt, my Dr told me my goal weight should be 150-What??? I told him I was going for 165 because 150 seemed too low since I am 5'10". I also said I would see what my body wanted to do once I reached my goal.
Well, you have seen my picures-can you imagine how skinny I would look if I took off another 14 lbs?? Yuk!
I had my one year appt and my Dr agreed that 165 was a great weight for me. What he ended up telling me was to NOT go below 150 and NOT go Above 170. SO it is nice to have a range.
I guess my point is even the Dr-when relying on a chart initially has to be flexible.
I think the chart does not take account the biggest organ in our body SKIN!!!! most of us have excess skin and no diet no exercise is gonna take off the excess amount of skin we made I think they should make up a post gastro chart to use that takes in account excess skin and dense bones we have from carrying 100 plus pounds around. Most of us do not have to worry about thin brittle bones something rarely heard of with people who are morbid obese. One good thing about being heavy I suppose LOL Jan u look great!!!
