Lisa, I agree with you on many things. I was only told to take B12, not the other Bs.But, the more I read about B1 deficiency, the more I am convinced that is the problem. Read the link from Lisa's post about it.and beruberi. I think I saw double visiion as one of the problems of B1 deficiency. My surgeon told me to take it now and to make sure it was sublingual. I called the Vitamin Shoppe and they told me no one makes it that way and that they carry hundreds of brands, I found it on Vitalady.com and ordered some B1 and Bcomplex sublingual. Taking a lot of B vitamins will not hurt you so it's worth a try.I gotta admit, this dropped foot thing has me very upset, scared, and depressed. Make sure you keep up your Vitamin D, that is another important one. I am going to go to an endocrinologist because I believe they are the only doctors that are in tune with vitamin issues, even the neurosurgeon in the hospital never suggested a vitamin dediciency. It is only through the help of our comerades on these boards that I have been directed in the right places. I hope everyone takes a lesson from my experience. Funny, too, because last week I had my yearly visit and the doc remarked how compliant I waws taking all my vitamins and supplements because my blood work looked so good! Oh, he also told me to increase my calcium. Good luck and definitely keep me posted. I hope everyone on the Ateam is reading this thread and can get educated on this subject. Shar

If you have cut out a lot of breads and grains from your diet then we were told you needed to supplement all the B vitamins since you would be deficient. One of my surgery mates had some problems becasue she was not getting her vitamins in and ended up in real trouble. Hopefully, they will get it figured out quick and get you back in the game....

Hi Shar, Do they think your foot will get better with supplementation? I will check the amounts I'm taking and get back to you, but I take a B Complex/B1 supplement twice a day in addition to the sublingual B12. I also take Vitamin D and zinc twice a day in addition to the twice a day multivitamin, calcium, 500 mg vitamin C, iron, and flax seed or fish oil. Vitalady has been a great source of info to me-our vitamin supplementation is very serious and probably none of us were told by our surgeons to take all this stuff. My surgeon's list for me had no B1 or B complex or zinc or vitamin D on it, for example. We're all in this together-aren't we lucky we can put our heads together? Lisa

Yes, Lisa, this board has been a real lifesaver, from the very beginning. The only vitamins I was told to take were 2 Fred Flintstones with iron and 3 500 mg calcium daily. B12 was once a week.....and that's it. I had a B12 shot today, as my internist didn't have B1. He took all the B vitamin blood work and D. Physical therapy starts Tuesday. I am so upset about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But you have helped me a great deal. I look forward to hearing the levels you take. Shar
