1 year out
Hi all April surgery folks,
Below is a copy of the post I submitted to the main forum, but I think it is more appropriate for this forum, and congrats to all my fellow 1 year or more grads.
Well it's been 1 year today since my Gastric bypass. I could not be happier, no complications, no regrets, in fact I would do it again if I had to. The only thing I don't like is since I lost the fat in my ass, my tailbone aches.I don't know if my tailbone is too long or what, but it does cause me occaisonal pain. I wonder if any of you have heard of such a thing, if you have, please let me know, because my my pcp and surgeon don't know what to do about it. Here are the stats:
Day before surgery 376 lbs. 54" waist
Today 211 lbs 37" waist
Total loss 165 lbs and 17 inches.!! And I think a little more is yet to come!
If your thinking about having this surgery but are having doubts I highly reccomend it, it has been like a mracle for me. I am also lucky in that I can eat almost anything, just smaller amounts. The only thing I have trouble with is chicken and bread. Thanks for the help and advice over the last year or so.
Craig
Congratulations on your success Craig!!!!
My tailbone hurts too. I guess it just hasn't had any pressure on it for the last 30 years! LOL As a matter of fact I just can't sit too long any more. My whole butt starts to hurt. That and the fact that it looks like a big old deflated balloon! But, I will still take that over weighing 300lbs!!
Much continued success to you Craig.

Yep.. me too.. (with the tailbone thingy) Mine feels a bit off as well.. like it has a curve to it that maybe it shouldn't.
I know I fractured it with the birth of my 2nd child nearly 7 years ago... but I was also 260 back then. Now if I sit too long I get a burning sensation and some days it's worse then others. I'm thinking of going to see a chiropractor. If you think about it.. I betcha all our spines are seriously out of wack.. to go from carring 100 some lbs (or more ) to less 100 some lbs (or more) in just a year.. that's gotta do something to the spine. My skin can attest that not everything has fallen back into place since dropping all this weight.
Still a work in progress I suppose.
Congrats on your loss.. it's amazing! You lost the amount of weight I want to weigh! LOL

I totally agree! Congratulations to you, Craig, and to all the A-team! What a year.
And I carry a cushion with me when I know I'm going to be sitting on a hard surface (like on a folding chair, for example) for any length of time. I think we all have lost fat in our rear ends. It hurts, but it sho' beats being morbidly obese any day.
