Hey all just a quick post to ask if its just me that feels like shes stopped losing weight - i had my op on the 24 april 2007 and to date have lost approx 65 pounds - i don't own a scales as i put it in the trash when it started becoming an obsession getting on and off all the time - i don't dump at all - and really try to make the right food choices - i find some day i want to eat all day - and other days i for get to eat for hours depending on what i am doing - is it just me or is there anyone else out there with the same problem??? by the way my clothes are still feeling loose so i must be losing inches ??

You're not alone. I have the exact same type of days. Pig out one day and eat almost nothing the next day. I try to behave and just go hungry a little. Weight loss is an individual thing. Some much enfluences how you lose, but just remember a loss is a loss even if its slow.

Hi Andrea, Congrats on your 65 pounds, any loss is a GREAT loss! Are you tracking your food intake on sparkpeople.com or fitday.com? I know for me it really helps, because I go through the same thing, eat more one day, much less the next. But keeping track keeps me focused and losses start again. And the usual water and exercise too. My loss slowed down considerably in month 8 and now again in 9, but I'll take 1 pound down versus 1 pound gained any day. Inky

Tracking is really the way to go. I am writting everyting down and it really does help to keep me on my program. That said...my weight loss has slowwed to a crawl. Like 3 pounds in Dec and 2 in Jan so far. I actually made an appointment with my nutritionist next week so that she can look at what I am eating to hopefully offer some suggestions. I am getting an average of 1200 calories and 60-80 grams of protien. At this point I would be happy to lose a pond a week! I am just tring to keep a good attitude and remember that the changes I have made are for a lifetime. Try tracking...it keeps me from grazing knowing that I have to write down everything. It is a constant reminder of living healthy.

Hi Vicki, please let us know what your nutritionist says-I am following the same rules you are and being VERY good, and my scale still won't budge!

Will do. It is frustrating isn't it. I hope she has some good suggestions.

thanks for the replys - on eof my problems is i live in a different country to the one i had my op in - i have not been back yet to see the surgoen i plan to go back this year , its kind of new to this country not many people have had it done so i seem to be out there alone trying to find ways of staying good i know some of you have told me to track things on fit day - but as lots of the products are so different i find it hard to pick ones that sound the same - as for protein i had to go to a health shop and ask if they had protein powder (they had ) it tasted horrible - we don't have crystal light (what ever that is ) -i'm drinking about 2 litres of water a day - but all that sais i can see some differences in my clothes - and i get hit on quite a lot when out with friends (which is funny because i can't take the compliments )thanks again for you help !!

seems like alot of us are in the same boat. I've read alot of profiles and it doesn't seem uncommon for people to have a stall right around 9 months out. but it still doesn't make it feel any better

I am the queen of slow losing .. have the title and crown to prove it.. well even one hour of cardio was not helping my slumps. Well i increased my work out to 2 hours a day 6 days a week cut back to 800 calories and since mid dec I am losing avg 2 pounds a week..)grant u it is avg not actually how i lose I drop all at once I keep my heart rate to 160 to 190 range I do resistantce training cardio core training lifting weight, and lap swimming I change what I am doing.. daily. but i do get in pool so i can keep my body free moving , I have lower back arthritis.. I think I am losing only because i exercise daily and i mean daily except sunday and when i really did not do exercise the scale just did not move.

No, it's not just you! I feel this point in time is a pivital time for me. I have been able to still keep my calorie intake per day below 700. I find it is even more important for me to journal and keep a record of nutritional intake. I also find it has helped me to journal my feelings and try to identify the issues that are going on for me. I keep a record of my daily weight and set specific goals of how much weight I want to loose by the next support group. Just this weekend I realized I had to focus, focus & focus again on the process. I keep thinking a person on a regular "diet" expects to drop 2-3 pounds a week so why not me because I had gastric bypass surgery. It is so tempting to go back to old habits. The only thing helping me is I can only eat a few different foods or I get really sick. No dumping but bad stomach aches. I have a horrible time with night eating and would welcome any suggestions on dealing with that. Other problem is not getting enough protein. Help!
