I am hoping you guys can help me with my Iron problem. I got back my 9 month blood work and my doctor wants me to double my daily iron. My question to you is...What brand of Iron do you use? I have been using Bariatric Advantage and would like to buy something at GNC. Next question what do you do to help with the iron side effect? Any good fiber foods to suggest. Thanks in advance for your help. Dani

Hi Dani, I can't help you with what iron to take, but when I run out of Bariatric Advantage (19 mg) I plan to just buy something at traders or GNC myself, since I can easily take pills now and don't need chewables. I will tell you that when I was taking the 29 mg BA iron I had terrible constipation and my doc had me cut back to the 19mg and all was fine then. I eat about 21 grams of fiber a day (13 from my beloved Zen Bakery (trader joe) fiber cakes) and the rest in other foods or I supplement with Fiber Choice sugar-free chewables and/or Benefiber in my water. This keeps me right as rain. Good luck and make sure you drink LOTS of water when you double your dosage! Keeps things moving along better. Inky

I get my iron from Freddy Flintstone....2 a day. Miralax is what keeps me regular. Adding fiber just didn't do it for me.

Thanks for your suggestion. I posted on the Michigan board and they suggested Twin labs chelated iron because we absorb it better and it doesn't cause those nasty side effects. Heading to Walmart in hopes to find some.
