Happy Thanksgiving!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Well is everyone stuffed!? I have looked forward to today and I have been scared of today. I actually felt comfortable not stuffed. I ate but I did not over eat. I did not want to gain a good 10 lbs from my husbands wonderful soul food cooking. OOOhhhh was it good. I ate everything in moderation so that I was able to enjoy a little of everything. I went slower than usual. I will exercise over the weekend to try to work the extra yummy calories off. I want to hear....what did you have and how did you do??? Food and bad stories let us know! I was also afraid of throwing up but that did not happen either~ thank goodness. Alright I will get off line now and back to chat with my fam and then to Bed. I am TIRED. It has been a wonderful long day. Take care and I will be looking for your responses!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! We went to a restaurant on the Columbia River with a huge buffet, and I mostly ate dungeness crab legs and peel-and-eat shrimp with ****tail sauce. It was awesome! I also nibbled a little on the desserts-different cheesecakes, a pecan tart, and chocolate mousse. I went very slowly and didn't get sick. Crab legs were perfect, because I was busy cracking them so I was forced to go slowly. Everyone in the car on the way home talked about being so stuffed they wanted to die, but I felt great!
Happy Turkey Day right back at you guys. Had a great Thanksgiving myself, with family and way too much commotion in the kitchen! I noshed on very well cooked turkey (brined, then roasted) that was just right moisture, and had a little (very little) stuffing and mashed taters. Probably the most refined carbs I've had since surgery, but did ok with them. Felt full by the end of the meal, and a little more once that bread swelled up (hadn't tried bread yet - yikes). By dinner time, I was able to have a small slice of the Sugar Free, Low Carb Cheesecake I made from a recipe on recipezaar.com. Wow was it good, it only had 234 calories, 10g carb, and 15g fat (boo fat), but it also came with 8g of protien. All totaled, my T-Giving day "mini-feast" of three 4-6oz meals came to around 1000 calories, 65 carbs, and nearly 0g of sugar!
Glad to have that behind me now, didn't really miss the engorgement that usually occurs at this holiday, though I did watch several family members partake too much and suffer......
well after cooking the most perfect bird and being so excited to eat turkey.....I got sick! I took one bite of the turkey and my tummy hates turkey(just found out)it felt so bad I had to go lay down for 4 hours to make my belly feel better so I ended up later having some mash potatoes with gravy(oh yeah I can't eat turkey gravy either) stuffing and some cranberry sauce. I did have a half of a piece of pumkin pie and earlier that day I had some califlower with ranch yummy. So I didn't eat very much for the whole day and got sick twice thank god I didn't throw up! Oh well I can safely say I didn't gain weight or stuff myself lol
dee
I weighed myself first thing Thanksgiving morning and to my surprise I lost 2 more pounds! I weigh 165 for a total loss of 82 pounds so far! That was a great motivator to behave myself for the big feast later that day.
I ate lots of turkey (figured that was safe to eat...high in protein) and had only a little mashed & stuffing with gravy (about a spoonful each). I had a little spoonful of sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and brussel sprouts. Tiny spoonful of cranbery sauce too. Course I ate very little of everything and ate very slowly so I was able to taste everything an enjoy all the traditional flavors of Thanksgiving without getting sick! Later that evening I tasted a little bit of the pumpkin swirl cheesecake I made from scratch... it was to die for! Just 3 small bites and I was done with that! I haven't gotten on the scale yet to see if there was any damage done... but I'm feeling pretty confident that all should be well. It felt good to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner without feeling over stuffed like the rest of the family...lol!
And now to my next challenge... baking christmas cookies...yikes! This is the time of year when I bake a ton of Christmas cookies to pass around to neighbors, friends & family. We even have a cookie exchange at our church. Cookies are definately a weakness with me so I've got to be really careful not to nibble on my creations!
Lisa, can you e-mail your recipe?? Sounds divine.
I had a nice thanksgiving. Didn't overeat. I had a spoonful each of mashed potatoes and stuffing. Had some turkey and ham. Found out that my tummy also did not care for turkey-darn. I stopped after a couple bites and gave it to my dogs. Had some SF Pumpkin pie.
I have been struggling since I had such a great week last week-my body decided to be mean and go up 2 1/2 lbs! So, I have just stayed on track and I only have another pound to go to get back to my previous low.
While T-giving was a breeze, leftovers were not.... We had about 20 minutes to eat before we ran out to see "the bee movie" with my family, and I stupidly ate too fast, didn't chew thouroughly enough, and found myself spending some quality time in the theater's bathroom to "reverse the process". Probably got a chunk of turkey stuck, and the bite of stuffing probably swelled to 3x it's normal size. Yuck - haven't had that happen in a few months, and probably won't be eating turkey for a while because of it. It is a reminder though - DON'T RUSH!!!!!
Hey Lisa-- You did good! I weighed and guess what!!!???? I was down to 165 lbs and I had already prepared myself to add on 5 lbs after eating. I was so surpised and happy to see that it had dropped. I was the only one who was not miserably full. I think it would be safe to say one of your cookies will be alright. Yeah.
