Fiber is to harsh on me

Fiber is also too harsh for me. When I have Kashi cereal I am in dire pain. The fiber cakes were also too harsh for me. I made an appointment with the gastroenterologist so we will see . Did your surgeon say the alli was ok for you? When I took it years ago, it didn't make much difference then.

I was really worried about you when you were not around for weigh in. I am so sorry you went through such a bad time.
This seems to be problem for a lot of us. I had a couple really bad episodes weekend before last. IT left me very sore and messed up.
My solution was to get back on digestive enzymes. I took them before I had the surgery to treat my colitis which caused the opposite problem you and I are having now. I get them from a trusted high quality source and KNOW they work. IT is amazing.
I had held off taking them again because I was worried about the capsules but they disolve in 60 seconds and since getting back on them things are easy and normal.
Get better quick!
Also know what you mean about constipation. I've had a couple of episodes I thought I was going to die right there on the throne - Yuck. I've found that getting the fiber in via benefiber is good, but that only accounts for the soluble fiber (read - keeps the gut churning - and can cause gas). I also take 2 Colace stool softeners per night, and at least once a week eat a high fiber breakfast cereal to get things moving. I like Bob's Red Mill High Fiber. It's got 10g of fiber, and 8g of it is insoluble - the kind that makes bulk that moves on through easier. I also read online that you shouldn't wait too long when you get the urge - things just sit around and get harder if you do. So, when the urge strikes ya - get some reading material and have at it!
What a topic - but obviously not a unique one for each of us!?
